Thanks for making this video Mr. Dave! I'm a young aspiring artist from the Philippines, and i just recently discovered this channel, I love the relaxing tone of your videos, and how you don't just talk about the technical stuff in drawing, but also the emotion while you're doing it. I hope you make more videos like these soon, Thanks! Take care.

Hi Jacobe! Thank you so much for your kind feedback It is reassuring to know that the content is well received. The emotional side of drawing is very important to me it can be quiet spiritual in nature. I will be working on new content every week... Will try to do some future videos with more real time in them. Take care and be well... happy creating!

Hi Dave, new subscriber here, I love your videos, the way you talk about drawing is so calming! Even if I'm drawing a completely unrelated piece to the video content, I like to have your videos on in the background. You remind me to stay calm and trust the process. I'd love a video on fur.

Thank you so much Pam! yeah it creates a velvet feel to the surface... be care though not to put too much on as it would cover the tooth too much and then it would be hard to add detail over it. take care :-)

Wow! I love it! But I think the stitches are a little difficult to do it, you have to do a lot of patience for this. And I have a question? How did you get this fine lines of the eyelashes with the pastel pencils? Because I can't sharpen this tipe of pencils, so thin...
@DavePortersArt2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Claritza! I use a knife to sharpen my pencil and use the edges of the point... I show how to do it in this video... here is a link kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYqqp4CQYrNjoNk 😊

Hi Julia... thanks for the feedback...much appreciated. Sorry about that. I am very new to video and it is a massive learning curve. I have just started to add real time in my latest video. A couple questions: How do you erase a mistake? Rub it and then just color over it? I understand pastels are easier to cover especially on pastelmat. And how many colors did you use for this piece? The face was really only primaries and secondaries + white? Red, Blue, Yellow, and Brwn, purple, magenta?
@DavePortersArt4 жыл бұрын
Hi, You could use a putty rubber if you have a lot of pigment..., or change the colour to a grey by mixing the complementary colour then any colour would go on the top of that ok. I just find a colour that is close to the shade and add that , then add the primaries and secondaries for the subtilties. for this portrait face I include these pencils of the caran d arche range the last three numbers of those Caran d ache vibrant pencils are 541, 524, 571, 581, 582.
