What shoes did you wear when not on shore landings?
@karahikes Жыл бұрын
I wore keen hiking boots out on deck since they kept my feet warm and were comfortable to walk and stand for long periods in. I mostly wore sneakers or a pair of flats inside for lectures, meals, etc.

Roughly how many of the socks/underwear did you pack? Did you do laundry on the ship?
@karahikes2 жыл бұрын
I brought enough for a little over half the trip and then had laundry done for the remaining part.

i am preparing for my trip in January. And im still in doubt about the pants. At what time were you there, spring or summer? Weren't you cold at the legs.. I was reading that you can also use a ski pants.. I don't know what to bring anymore haha
@karahikes3 жыл бұрын
I was there end of February. Personally, the layering system worked really well for me. Rain pants are not really breathable and retain heat a little more. If you have space to pack both rain and ski pants, go for it!

I'll finally be going to Antarctica in Dec of this year instead of in feb this year due to cancellations from Hurtigruten. But, what I was wondering: what category sunglasses did you use as cat. 4 sunnies are recommend? Thank you for a reply
@karahikes2 жыл бұрын
I'm glad you finally get to go! I wear prescription sunglasses. So, my choices are a little more limited. However, they are polarized sunglasses, which are better for reducing glare on snow and water.

What about clothes for while on board? I don’t want to overpack
@karahikes2 жыл бұрын
Depending on what ship you are sailing on most are very casual. Personally, I brought hiking boots to wear on deck since it would be cooler outside. I wore sneakers or a pair of flats inside for lectures, meals, etc. I basically wore what I would at home - pants including jeans, long sleeve shirts, sweater. Your ship should offer laundry service, which will help reduce overpacking since you can have your clothes washed while you are on board.

I had been a gold member with my late husband on Seaborne. As lovely as these videos appear, the cruise director makes little effort in doing anything realistic to make the cruise more enjoyable. Excursions used to be a very big problem. They were limited in ridiculously low numbers. I just saw the prices on the upcoming cruises , and $45,000 a person is a lot of money. I much rather take other types of vacations where u aren’t stuck onboard if a port won’t let you off or if a port won’t accept you. This ship is getting a lot of attention, but most of your time will be spent onboard, boredom leads to eating & weight gain, and everything you would normally opt for onland is 3-4 times the regular price.
