How to drift using a wheel on Forza Horizon 4 Part 2 (Thrustmaster TMX set up tips and car tuning)

Hello and Welcome to Wheelspin TV , in this episode i will be following up on my last drift tutorial video and answering questions previously asked, I will also be teaching left foot braking and dragging the Ebrake.These skills can be applied to all Forza games and several other simulation games . I will be using a Thrustmaster TMX , T3PA pedals ,TH8A shifter on a playseat Challenge. Fh5 is brilliant in so many ways but I feel we are lacking in Wheel settings and I seem to have a Numbness to Understeer which I just an not tune out of the wheel. I'm trying to understand the game fully before I make any video but they will be coming shortly 😎👍

@@wheelspintv6864 mechanical trail on max has worked best for me with .5 on center spring and none on the wheels! might just be me but thats the best responsive settings i have been able to get

@@skyler6030 thanks for sharing. That's pretty much what I'm currently running with most other settings on 1.2/1.3. I think I'll have to accept the difference in physics and stop trying to make it like FH4 🙈. I'm loving the extra grip but I would like to know what my front end is doing a little better.

@@wheelspintv6864 i've heard numerous complaints about the way braking affects drifts in the sense that left foot braking is useless so i imagine some changes will come, i can't comment on FH4 on a wheel but FH5 definitely has taken some gettin used too, as you said baby steps!!! i've had my homies over and they all get frustrated when they can't drift perfectly first time but i always try to point em down the same way you pointed me and many others!!! hope to see some good content come out of FH5!!

I see that this is possible from so many people. I play on PC, with a G920, shifter, pedals, even a $100 handbrake add on, but holy hell after hours and hours of trying, I still can't drift proficiently. I have tried for years! But my only hope is that Forza Horizon 5 will have much better wheel support and it will finally be manageable enough to drift. Did you find the wheel better in Forza 5 in your preview? Was drifting easier/same/different/worse, etc? Either way, good video, as I did learn and get better at drifting a bit.

I'm yet to play FH5 yet , but trust me when I say it has been a long haul of learning g and seat time for anyone you see drifting with a wheel 👍 it takes alot of seat time and a correctly set up car. Start small with low power and just practice the technique I show in Part 1, only progress once you have mastered each step and you will get it 😎👊

@@wheelspintv6864 I did that and use the same share code as you recommended, but that car was super strong. Did that share code change since the video was made? That Nissan Silva seemed way stronger than what you showed a year ago.

there is tons of reviews of this on YT^^ i have the shifter and it works amazing. you can use it for sequential if you want aswell^^ so far i have nothing negative to say about the shifter^^

Firstly I’d like to congratulate you on your awesome tutorials- I’ve certainly not mastered it yet but at least I have a much better understanding of the physics and technique. I’ve just installed FH5 and was wondering if your share codes work in the new game or will you have to create new tunes for the new game ? Please keep up the brilliant work

Hi mate loving the videos but could you explain how you to the clutch kicking and what you mean by left foot braking, do you mean the pedals.

Hi and thanks for the comment. A clutch kick is where you have your clutch IN/engaged then rev and let go of the clutch. This will bring tge revs up and spin the back wheels when you let the clutch go. Left foot braking is when you are using your throttle (right foot) and then braking with your left foot.👍 I hope this helps .

then they must be default, exacept for the in game steering angle which is 720. Was wondering the same thing, gonna keep them by default in the wheel's control panel.

Using simulation would be more realistic right, as normal smoothens out your Inputs which is kinds unrealistic but makes it easier do drive (especially for controller). Maybe you could try out both and give a short comparisons in one of the next videos as you plan to do a series either way :) thanks for the quick answer

I read on Turn 10 website for Forza that when a wheel is played on it automatically puts the car in Simulation mode BUT when I change from one to the other I do feel a difference. I find Simulation is snappy during counter steering and thats preety much it from my experience. I can drift and drive with both but enjoy normal mode more as I can push it that much harder.

Thanks a lot for these drift tutorials. I have learned tunning and drifting through your videos. Could you please tell me the use of clutch kicks? I'm using my clutch pedal as ebrake. I simply give extra gas while entering the corner and the car slides easily. Is there any difference if I use clutch kicks to initiate drift?

Thanks for tuning in, I'm glad they have helped 😎👊 I use clutch kicks for a few things. It can be for starting a drift. Mid drift between transitions or just to get more of a slide when needed ie if the powers dropping and catching grip.

Do you think that you shouldn't have simulated steering on ?, as I've heard most people do as I've always left it on, I always turn off assists and traction control and ABS and my mate is telling me that's why we're having problem, I told him it's the wheel settings that no ones giving the right settings on KZbin, I'll try these settings tomorrow see if I have any luck with yours, I find most of the time the feedback doesn't work properly I did also wonder if it's actually my wheel is broken too but it feels fine it's really smooth and when turned up the feedback is really strong to the point it hurt 🤣, but yeah this is the only thing I'm having problems with is I can't drift well and sometimes I lose the back end in races

The wheel settings are somewhat personal preference but if you start out with some good settings you can fine tune them to your feeling. I personally don't run Simulation steering . I read on a Turn 10 statement that when wheels are used there automatically set to sim, this is weird because when I then change to sim there is a distinct difference in feeling. The wheel snaps back and cars become very difficult to countersteer and drive at high speed in comparison to not having it on. I would rather enjoy the game and have it on standard but again it's personal preference 😎👊

@@simonriley6198 unfortunately not on the wheel 😔 if there is I havent worked it out or seen it anywhere . I can get the Revs to act like a 2step at the best but no Launch control. If you select first gear (on a flat level) then hold it in Neutral, release and press clutch again fast it can make the revs bounce quicker which can be handy on well geared cars for launching.

I've seen on KZbin a Forza drifter try it in real life for the first time and he was told by the instructor " you sure you've never done this before " he wasn't perfect but he picked it up very fast , I can't think of his name it was something like GTOOFAST. I think the muscle memory and technique is the same its just transferring the skills and getting use to the Gforces and Car set up.

Can I ask why 720 and not 900? I used your settings for fh5 first and it felt great on the g290 but these settings feel ultra light on fh4. Can't seem to get them the same. I'm using 900 btw g. Thanks

I find with my TMX wheel on 900 it just doesn't have the rotational speed to feel Good when sliding its not impossible but just doesn't feel right for me, before going over to FH5 I had it at 810 and turned up some of the settings but I felt I was maxing out my wheels capabilities. Don't worry we all started just like that 👍 it takes seat time and lots of practice. If you haven't watch my Part 1 to this video and start at the basics then progress. Make sure you start at the beginning and only progress when you have mastered each bit . Start with low powered cars then as you get better increase the power. My wheel just does the opposite of what it should for example when i turn right it doesnt countersteer to the left it just goes to the right and my car spins out i even tried inverted force feedback and it didnt work eighter and it only seems to happen in forza horizon 4 any help would be aprecieted

The technique will work for any wheel user. The wheel settings should be fine on your wheel as its also Thrustmaster but maybe stronger as your wheel is a better wheel then the TMX 👍

I just googled the wheel. If its the FFB version (458 LTD edition) it should be 900 rotation. Check your settings on the Xbox settings within Forza 👍
