I am pleasantly surprised to see this. I usually do masonry stuff so I don't have a proper regular drill but I recently stumbled upon a job I had to drill through wood. So instead of struggling with my meh drill I got an sds shank auger bit. It's unlike the one shown on this video but a regular good old auger bit it's just the sds end is different. I have to say I also was amazed by the smoothness of the bosch hammer drill going through wood. Though mine is corded so that might help too. Killer performance but unexpected for sure!

You're probably the first person to get a pleasant surprise from this channel😅 But that's pretty cool, I've not seen one of those exact bits before

Yeh great vid, nice to the 171 out I’ve got one ere in uk only spins slow but packs a punch beyond its weight and never lets me down what ever size I throw in it I’ve got an sds adapter but will buy the sds wood bits great idea

If my memory serves me correct, the green bosch hammer you have drills at 2000 rpm or something like that, which would be more ideal with these accessories. Universal Hammer 18v or something I think it was called. The torque might of course be a problem though, as you’ve mentioned before

Yes in general you want higher speed for wood but if you're only doing rough holes, as opposed to something fine like in cabinetry, this low speed seems ok

I know they are designed for concrete but they all specify wood and metal drilling diameters in specs too, id probably never use mine for that however 😂. Makita drill bits are usually nice, but my experience with their sds bits was horrible, 6mm ones would break on brick two or sometimes even more times a day, we work with cable installation

The 'standard' Makita bits are very cheap and quite rough. I used them a lot. But Makita makes at least 3 other types and I've found them pretty good, but you pay 3-4x more for them
