I cant believe im just now finding this 4 years later! I was looking for ways to outline buildings or other objects but this is just amazing! Thank you for such a good tutorial.

Great tutorial! I think I need to practice with my drone and lights a bit before I try this! Definitely, something I will be trying eventually!

Totally dude! Glad you enjoyed it. Starting with orbits is a great beginning since those you can do with the drone itself!

Great idea! Is it possible to rotate the image on the y axis so you’re shooting forward instead of up…?
@RussellKlimas4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Using math you can make all the latitudes the same and make the pattern vertical instead of horizontal.

Super cool stuff! But can you do something like that above some old house or mountain? Not just to shoot straight into the sky?

Russ I'm trying to make one of these myself so I can actually learn how to do it! How far do the points have to be apart? I know you told me but I forgot. Great work man!
@RussellKlimas Жыл бұрын
minimum .6 meters, anything closer won't work. Other than than they can be as long as you want pretty much!
@RickardLiljeberg2 жыл бұрын
Is it possible to do this but work more with altitude than with lateral distance. So that the picture created more "stands up" and can thus be place for instance next to a mountain, not just high up in empty sky

Great video. Is there a way to rotate your image in the litchi app?
@RussellKlimas2 жыл бұрын
Yes if you have the properties/get more info window open on your image grab the green diamond on the screen and drag.
@DronePsychPerspectives2 жыл бұрын
@@RussellKlimas is that done in the web-based app or the mobile app?
@RussellKlimas Жыл бұрын
@@DronePsychPerspectives Sorry my mistake I was relating this to google earth. If you go to the web based app there are buttons on the left hand bottom side and one has a arrow going in a circle. Click on the button, click somewhere on your map, and then it will allow you to rotate.

Awesome tutorial!!! Just curious does your drone have a light on it? I don’t think my mavic pro has a bright white light. I mean I haven’t really noticed or looked for it before so maybe it does

Hey Gayle! You are referring to Google Earth yes?
@gaylekakac3134 жыл бұрын
@@RussellKlimas Yes sorry. I finally got it to work but it only worked when I got Google Earth Pro and then I realized it would only work if I left the original window open. Once I shut the window I could no longer resize the png. Thanks for this tutorial. Absolutely brilliant video! Question - Your lume cube placement - is it facing downward? Or backward? Sorry could you clarify, I got a bit confused with that part.
@RussellKlimas3 жыл бұрын
When doing horizontal light paintings like this it depends on how high the drone goes. If I'm going REALLy high then it will be face down but if I'm not then it will be pointing towards the camera. This is because if it's really big and goes for away from you with the lumecube pointed down but at a low altitude the camera will eventually lose the light from the lumecube.
That is Awesome, but completely illegal by FAA standards even for hobbyist. You must have anti collision lights on a drone when flying at night. The lights that come on most drones are not anti collison. I would love to do this but can't due to the rules.
@RussellKlimas4 жыл бұрын
I actually use anti-collision lights with the Lumecube Strobe and do this with no problem, so it solves both issues. : ]]

hi . how you know when to block the lens i wish this wasnt needed.
@RussellKlimas Жыл бұрын
If you have android then you can tell by the waypoint numbers and just make a list ahead of time when to block the lens and then unblock it. If you want to do a vertical instead of horizontal light painting then check out my other video on that and you won't need to block.
