I planted it in a 4 gallon nano and it's done great. Then I planted it in a one gallon cube, unheated, just a small LED and it grows like crazy. I trim it every 2 weeks and it has completely filled the cube. Makes a great light for my nightstand - nothing else, no animals, just grass.

My little brother got me back into it after at least 10 years and i have no idea what happened to youtube with fishing keeping but half the people are more flashy then the half ass tanks the keep. To solid man 🤙🏾

Some great advice! Thank you. I had planted mine in a large clump after removing it from the pot and ditching the wool, and I had no idea about separating it out smaller. Will defintely re-plant. Thanks for sharing, man. :)

Had a large clump and cut it, but then took it out and tore it apart and there were so many roots and runners everywhere! Then I hopped on KZbin and found out this was the correct method. I’m just glad I didn’t kill it! Thanks :)

Very good info on hair grass! I never had any luck with it. Maybe that was my problem, not pulling it apart.... Just subbed :)

Excellent video man, I tried hairgrass 2 times already, I don't have CO2 I use either CO2 booster from API or Seachem Excel and I have 2 watts 6500K per gallon, I leave my lights on 6 hours only since when I had them 7 or up I started to get really bad BBA, I will try tissue cultured dwarf hairgrass and see how it goes, a friend uses it and he has no CO2 neitehr and his tank is already carpeted with the tissue cultured hair grass, let's see how it goes. I spent like $100.00 for 2 different long set of scissors, 3 different sizes and styles of tweezers and 1 substrate pusher from a guy on Craigslist, I mean 8 tools for $100.00 is a deal, thank you for the advise man.

I got two pair of German blue rams and there great they don't bother any body and there very colorful and they have great personality's. Thanks

Really? Why did you skip the planting? How on earth do you get the little roots anchored in that substrate?
@teamhex7 жыл бұрын
As long as you have about an inch, it should be enough. Your best bet is to plant them with long stainless steel tweezers and push to the bottom. When you let go of the plant, give the substrate around it a wiggle. It will allow it to fall into place around the plant.

Damn those Bolivian Rams look so happy! I didn't know they could move so fast. How do I get mine dancing around like that?...
@LonestarAquatics10 жыл бұрын
Well not sure, they are just happy like that. They are fed a diet of brine shrimp and blood worms daily and air pump comes on at night to rebound the CO2. Other than that I don't do anything special. They do like highly planted tanks.
@LonestarAquatics10 жыл бұрын
Oh see what it was now. My hand was by the glass so they thought they were about to get fed so they were following my hand. Otherwise they are calm...LoL

Do you recommend planting dwarf hairgrass in sand? I have a sand planted aquarium with an amazon sword that's doing well with the sand.
@LonestarAquatics6 жыл бұрын
Emily the amazon sword is a more hardy plant which can sustain a wide variety of conditions so they can do well in sand as well. The hairgrass needs a little more care and attention. Usually when you see it planted in sand they have a highly rich nutrient base layer under the sand like ADA or Florite etc. if you have a base layer like that you will be fine. Also not to mention it will give it something to root into as planting in sand would be quite the challenge keeping them rooted or even allowing them to take root. Great question and thanks for asking.
