So I didn't run thru the disc dye basics in this video but here are some things you should know. Premium plastic is strongly preferred. I have never successfully dyed any base line or putter style plastics. Star, Esp, Gold Line, and other opaque premium plastics like those are by far the best. The disc used in this video is an Alpha plastic Mad Cat from Lone Star Discs. It helps to clean the disc with warm soapy water and a sponge or paper towel, and air dry before dyeing. Sometimes oils on the surface will mess up your results otherwise. Check my Disc Dye Faq video in the description for more info. Good luck!

Idye Poly red is extremely potent. The colour choices here for a yellow disc are spot on, a lot of people just throw colour choices around and keep creating dark greens and browns. If you want to use the shaving cream method, Idye Poly Turquoise is sadly really bad at that. It is notoriously hard to use with basically any method except for just mixing it with acetone/alcohol and spinning/painting it on. Nice to see a detailed video like this and with tips and tricks I haven't really seen before 👍🏻

what about the sticker? do you take it off? or just sticker does not absorb paint?
@DiscGolfNerd2 жыл бұрын
Sticker? I think you mean the stamp. The logo and artwork are stamped on with a heated press. Stamps typically do not absorb the dye so you can leave them alone if you want or you can remove them with acetone before dyeing if you like.

How long did you let the disc sit in the dye?
@DiscGolfNerd2 жыл бұрын
8 hours for shaving cream. Longer for glue dyes like 24-36.

Can you use liquid dye with shaving cream?
@DiscGolfNerd Жыл бұрын
Not something I ever tried so I don't know. I'm sure you can produce some kinda dye results with that combo but the liquid will definitely sink into the cream and dissolve it so no idea what might happen.

Do you have better success with your dyes based on the plastic for the disc, or does it work the same across the board?
@DiscGolfNerd2 жыл бұрын
I only use premium plastics. Like Opto or Gold line, champion or star, Z or Esp, etc. The opaque plastics like Star, Esp, Gold line, Fuzion, etc are generally the best. This disc is an Alpha plastic from Lone star which is similar to those.
