Would 1x1 garden stakes work for the sides and back? I have a bunch of those and they're cedar. I think it's good to have feet too otherwise that plywood will be getting a lot more moisture

sure would I just don’t know how long it would hold up. It would definitely last longer if you sealed with polyurethane or at least painted them. I set my hives on 4x4’s to keep them off the ground

I was thinking along these same lines. Simplify this crap. LoL. However, instead of ripping the strips, you can just buy the 3/4 X 3/4 boards & it's easy enough to cut them to length with a hand saw. Scrap pieces can be entrance reducers, save a ton of money. Also, as I understand it, the reversible is supposed to be so that you have proper bee space in summer but extra space in winter for dead bees. It seems to me, one could achieve the same goal by putting 2 political signs, sheets of cardboard or a thin sheet of plywood on the bottom board in the summer. Just a thought.
