YOU ROCK!!! I bought Fallout 4 VR a couple of years ago when it was dirt cheap on Steam. Of course, I didn't have an actual VR headset until a month ago, when I bought a used Oculus Rift S. I'm sure people will tell me there are better systems out there but I got it cheap and I love it. Great visuals. Of course, all the information on modding V4VR was horribly out of date and for 3 weeks, nothing I tried worked. I've been a computer support geek for decades but never got into modding, so I had NO idea where to start. Your videos helped a LOT, especially the latest explaining how Bethesda's latest update to "improve" the game broke all the mods. Thanks to you, I successfully downgraded F4VR (i got an error message on 3 files the first time, but everything installed on the second try). Then I installed the Mad God classic mods (I wanted to keep the Fallout look and feel, not switch to Call of Duty). Your videos are very easy to follow. I can't even imagine how many hundreds of hours you spent trying different combinations to get this to work, but you did a great job. Thanks to you and to Mad God! I'M NOT WORTHY!!! :)

@calcariachimera ah, the 3060 will struggle with the high end textures. You could disable them in Mo2. I recently bit the bullet and upgraded my PSU, GPU and CPU. These damn 4000 series RTX cards are stupid big... I had to put it in the case sideways to install it and it's so wide it completely covers my only other pCIE slot lol

No problem at all! If I can give any advice, I'd go for the 4080s. It's cheaper and better than the 4080. Just make sure you're not getting cpu throttled. Buy its a Chonky boy! Sadly this sketchy tool didn't work for me, changed my PW asap, nor the other one that doesn't require steam login. But yeah, even though I was able to get my 'pancake' FO4 modlist to run with either tools, I kept crashing on start when trying to run Madgod's or Gingas's FO4 VR modlist. None of the modlists were even changed, except for disabling stuff for the Index ones. What did worked for me is manually downloading all the depot files myself, using the many guides out there; It's that one where you open up steam console and type in the 14 depot download commands. Which, I know you really only need the DLC files, but when I only downloaded just those files it still would crash on start. Ultimately got the VR modlists running after I downloaded all 14 depots && running pancake FO4, before my FO4 VR FINALLY booted again

Every single time i load up the game it just crashes. Ive tried everything. I dont know what to do. I spent about $70 today buying the DLCs, Fallout vr, and nexus premium. I tried down grading but i got 3 errors at the end

Batch downgrade. There are several files you could choose from in this mod but the batch download checks your games version and downgrades it

If i am downgrading Fallout 4 VR do i have to downgrade VR and Flat version of the game and then copy over DLC?

just the flat version then copy the downgraded DLC from the flat version files to the VR Folder

I'm trying to use this for Fallout 4 VR, and I keep getting the error message "Fallout 4 is not installed" as soon as I boot up the Downgrade by Downloading Depots file. I only just downloaded Fallout 4 VR today, so its a fresh install. I do have my Steam installed on my C Drive and Fallout installed on secondary steam library on my D drive though, no idea if that could be affecting things (although I did try moving locations at one point in my troubleshooting and didnt seem to help). Any ideas anyone?

Quick question is downgrading needed I watched your video on "How To Mod Fallout 4 VR Easily With Vortex Mod Manager And Nexus Mods In 2024" and it said you have to do this but when I check when it was updated last it was April 27 2018 for update 1.2.66.0 so was there a update that broke the game or not I'm confused

Yes, when the TV show got popular Bethesda decided in their infinite wisdom to update the game graphically and completely screw up F4SEs compatibility, that's the script extender responsible for pretty much every mod. Silverlock will eventually update F4SE but until then you need to downgrade hence the video.

You should be launching Mo2 in the mods folder that was installed. It's not possible to install Wabbajack mod lists without selecting the games location and a mods folder.

on the downgrade it says it installed with 4 errors and then when i try to load up fallout vr through the mod organiser it gets stuck on a window saying mod organiser. also on the actual organiser there are a lot of mods with like hazard symbols etc

Yeah ignore the hazard symbols, that's normal. Did you downgrade and move the DLC over to VR data without running flatscreen again? Also did you make sure to run steamvr before running anything else?

Well this fixed a ton of issues. Still having infrequent crashes when doing settlement stuff, a few mods don’t actually work, and absolutely no Cait mods work for me, but I’ll keep troubleshooting to see if I can get it figured out. I’m miles ahead of where I was before this fix so thank you so much for that! Any tips or advice on graphics overhaul mods would be appreciated. I add in tree mods like autumn or another pine forest, but all the trees despawn when I start to get close. I’ve tried to install older versions of the mods, but the problem persists.

Yep, you need all the dlcs for this mod pack and they need to be downgraded. 32 files remember. Its in the tutorial.

You should never have 49 DLC files. Even after the update... you should have 32 at all times. They are files that start with the word DLC. Everything else in that data folder are additional or new from the update.

Many of the mods will require those files. Some won't. It may fail at installation without them I'm not certain.

I am still having a problem where I go to launch the mad god pack from wabbajack and it launches the game for a second before the game closes itself like nothing happened. I ported the DLC over in the original mad god install and downgraded it after but the issue persists...

Hey man, you need to downgrade thr DLCs, don't run or allow autoupgrade on steam or else steam will update your DLCs. It can do that even without running the game. What rig do you have? If you get direct crashes it can mean your pc isn't up to the task.

hey sorry if im asking stupid questions but the game is laggy, even the vanilla vr is laggy, like really laggy, i had to downgrade the graphics into potato to make it playable, im maxxing the pixels on my meta quest app but with 72fps cap, i didn't change any of the resolution settings in steam vr , i have 3090 with cpu ryzen 7 75003d. and the game looks like vanilla fallout 4 vr even after the installing the mods successfully, how can i play with graphics inside the game, i don't know what to do. do i have to change the settings for my meta quest 3 pixels?
