@@MergeDroid Hello, I figured it out. I wasn’t able to do it at first using the terminal. Instead, I enabled developer mode by powering off the chrome book and pressing esc, arrow, and power button from there I just repeated the terminal steps and it worked.

Worth double checking you've moved the package to the correct location you're expecting in the Linux Files area and remember it's case sensitive. To make life easy consider renaming the package to a.apk or something short and easy 👍

@ i found out it was the owner who started the process of this tutorial and then kept the linux environment open on their account, so i removed it from their account with adb debugging still activated. then the prompt worked

Hi, thanks for finding this video, I think you came via my TikTok? For the app 'eDrawings' by the developer 'SolidWorks', the method I show you in this video could be helpful as it's one of those apps that you can find on the Google PlayStore on an Android phone, but not on a Chromebook. To get hold of the APK itself for the app I think you'd have to either: 1.) Search for it online, there are various sites hosting APKs, but you need to be careful and ensure you trust. OR 2.) You can investigate ways to extract the APK from your your Android phone's install. Keeping all this in mind it won't guarantee the app will run well on a Chromebook, as there may be a reason the developer doesn't provide it in the first place, such as it not scaling, but hopefully worth checking out.

Hi, as far as I'm aware you'd need to do this manually and install a new version as nothing will be picked up through the Play Store.

As long as your Chromebook supports the Google Play Store already this should allow you to install any APK. How well that APK works on a Chromebook, especially the larger screen is the thing to consider.

Yes you should just be able to run the install command, obviously having the APK file in the Linux directory as well.

@pimpinlucky1 'enabling' the Linux functionality is a one time thing, once it's enabled you've setup the Linux Terminal and it's available as and when you need it on your Chromebook.

Hi, in the method I show you get the check box that should keep it allowed. If you've moved to the Developer channel build it may be different, not sure.

No worries. Linux is case sensitive, so could it be something as simple as you're not 100% matching the case of the file name or path? Just a quick first check.

@@OfficialLiquidLethargy Easiest thing is just drop the APK directly in the Linux Files folder as I show/did, then you don't have to include any extra navigation etc. You can always move the APK afterwards if you prefer to keep it in a sub folder. Hope that helps 👍

A quick way, if you don't need anything else in your Linux setup, is just to 'turn off' the Linux Terminal, which essentially deletes the Linux VM, so you'd of course loose anything else you installed or saved in it. Does that help you?

Guessing sadly it either means your Chromebook is quite old (before the Play Store was supported), so wouldn't run apps well anyway or perhaps you have ChromeOS Flex installed, so again no Play Store support. Hi, what version of ChromeOS are you running and does that Chromebook have the Google Play Store? I think it's an older model right?

@HarryHauVo no worries. In some of the other comments Chromebooks with AMD/MediaTek processors have run into some issues. I think your Chromebook has hit the end of its update life too, shouldn't really be the problem here but may not help things unfortunately. Your other solution may be having to move it to the Dev channel.

It's case sensitive so check the lower and upper cases you use match the file name. Easy tip, rename the file to something easy like a.apk
