Hey Doug, Nice little unit, it would be great for making jewelry or other small castings, ingots of gold, etc.. Recently, I made a comment on Uncle Doug's KZbin channel, he does vintage tube amps, and, in his reply asked if it was true that I was not a subscriber, when I have been a sub for 8 or 9 years, I get all his notifications, so, there is something wrong with KZbin and there information. Still getting all your posts and videos in my subscriptions. You make really good videos and narratives on whatever subject you happen to feature. Thank you for your time and effort making them. Happy Summer, best, C.

For this level of heat you'll need water cooling. A solid copper coil will get extremely hot and melt if allowed to run long enough.

The power supply output varies with input voltage. At 120v the output is low, and 240v the power output is very high, so I did some tests and found that 135-140V was ideal.

@@electronicsNmore Yeah, that’s great to know. Are you still running it with a variac or do you just use wall 120V or have you stepped it up to the full 220V? If you have taken it to 220V, I am confused with what cables and plugs to use. The only available outlet that is 220V in my house is my dryer outlet, but that has four prongs. I just don’t want to wire it up wrong or get a plug that has the wrong configuration. I just hope 120V is good enough. Sorry for all the questions and I deeply appreciate any help

@electronicsNmore2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan. This induction furnace heats up very quickly when the correct input voltage is used, so it wouldn't take too long. The majority of power supplies allow 110v/220v input. BTW, checked out your channel, you're a great pitcher!

I see no benefit to this system as is, one could continually add ice cubes to the pan though, the pouring is the issue, we want a good smooth bar, pouring does not achieve this any better than a standard kiln / furnace, however if one could modify this for a direct silver shot / crystal in a mold within the heat source, I believe this would be the better way.

old school here as well - prefer your commentary over any music. how about casting a bracelet or something useful -everyone copy cats melting useless copper ingots then polishing em up -big deal. i have exact same model ZVS melter you have -had it for a year, still sitting in the box waiting for a brainstorm use. Read the crucibles burn up after a few uses so wondering how practical these are. even if not very practical, they seem to be very cool and very fast & quiet melters of high temp silver, brass, bronze, copper alloys and gold. Alternatives are noisy crucible furnace, or torch melting but torches will only melt a couple of ounces while these can melt a pound of metal fairly quickly. Big shout out to your channel -your videos are all great! Someone ask if it would melt iron check out what this guy is doing kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYa2Z6p4ra-XZqM &&& kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJCkqIOqp99recU

It seems like simple circuit tho, and depending on where you live it would make sense to work of electricity rather than gas. Specially if you are off-grid solar/wind. Though there's also plasma arc melting that also works of electricity though is a lot more dangerous.

@@VidarrKerr To you the music doesn't fit, but to me and countless others it does. I could just imagine your comments on countless other videos on YT where the creator has background music playing. Background music is in the background at a low level IF people are talking, otherwise the music alone is fine. You need to stop letting minor things bother you, and show appreciation to others when they spend many hours filming and editing educational & informative videos, not to mention answering countless questions on a daily basis, many times at ZERO compensation. If it's too loud for you, very simple, lower the volume. The music was faded in, you make it sound like it instantly turned on loud. LOL
