Thanks UB, I’m a long time Chevy fan, but never knew about the SBC fuel pump rod-holding trick. Nice info to file in the “next time” bin. Keep up the good work and videos. I know most of your material, but I’m proof that an old dog can learn new tricks!

My ‘79 Camaro told me to tell you “THANK YOU” for this video/lesson 🧠 the screw holding the push-rod out of the way was crucial for making this super easy!! 🙏😊

Thanks for the secret bolt to hold the pump rod. Usually that rod hands my ass to me, this isn't the 1st fuel pump replacement. I hope I have that bolt on my 57 Chevy 283.

Good vid. I changed the fuel pump on my 350SB last night & for some reason that bolt to retain the rod wouldn't hold it up so I used a strip of packaging box to hold the rod up while I slipped the fuel pump into place.

Thanks for the video! I'm about to do this on a 1965 Olds 330 cu in. Do you think it's necessary to take the rod out to clean/lube/grease? Or leave it in and put grease or oil on it? just curious - thanks
@grantslater24858 ай бұрын
Leave it in, it gets oiled by the motor

YES, LEAVE IT IN. the engines oiling system does lubricate the rod very well. Have a great weekend

So my 76 gmc will squirt a little bit of gas when I turn the keys. An no sign of It staying on. Will that be a fuel pump problem? Or does it suppose to come out alot from the fuel line whenever you start and gas it a little? Please help me put. UNCLE BUCK??
@unclebucksgarage76956 ай бұрын
YES, it is a fuel pump problem, it should be a strong steady feed

I have a fuel filter that drop the gas and then fills up all the way. Is the fuel filter supposed to be filled up all the way at all times if so, is it a fuel pump issues. My car also stalls at times when I’m at a stoplight

Good video. Why does your old one have a spring under the arm and the new one doesn't? I have the opposite, new one has spring and old one doesn't.
