*Extra Tip* , If you want to track multiple images in then add a merge node inbetween the Transform node and the Tracker node. Then add your new image and new transform node in connecting the new Median node to the new Transform node and then the new Transform node to the Merge node :)

I made a .png file! You can either search for them online or create your own. Once you have your image with a transparent background it's easy to drop it on your timeline and work with it in Resolve.

Glad you enjoyed the video! Ok, I am moving and don't have my computer set up so I'll try and remember how to do it... for the frames you might have to correct things manually. Move frame by frame using the { and } keys in Fusion. You literally just go through one by one and pin it to where you want it. Otherwise I would just retrack and do it again if the track messes up. Hopefully that helps. Sorry, I'm not a super wizard or anything with Fusion. I'm still learning with ya!

On the edit page in the inspector (where you transform, dynamic zoom etc), there is a feature called Smart Reframe. I suspect that is what you are looking for :) Check it out!

I would say the easiest way is to just split the clip where you want it to start and end, then use the advice in my video for the exact length of the clipped video part you just made. Hope that helps!

Great tutorial! I just happen to also be in an edge case: how does one merge multiple items (e.g. images following the data of multiple different trackers) in one node setup? No matter what I do, when it comes time to merge nodes together so there's just one line for MediaOut, only one is 'on top' and visible.

It's really easy to do with keyframes! You can just use positioning and the rotation. It's a good reminder I've been meaning to make a video on that for a while... Maybe I'll do that soon! Thanks👊

That is a great question! And I don't know exactly... there is probably a much easier way but you COULD just create a project with the clip you want, track one thing, export the video... then import that in to your main project then track the other. I haven't tried to use two separate trackers in the same fusion clip. That might work but might also be tough on the ol' GPU? Are you using proxies while editing?!

Love it! One small thing I noticed though, your glasses move with your head movements but they don't rotate when you tilt your head, I think that might require at least 2 trackers to identify the tilt and then solve to apply that to the overlay image...is adding that an easy extension to this procedure? I usually do this kind of thing in Blender, but as with most of these kinds of edits both applications can do the job, but Resolve makes it a much easier process.

You need to use a .png of the item you want with no background. You can't use a .jpeg for example because then it will have a white background. So I remove any background of the image I want then save it in a .png so when I add it into Resolve, it looks like a floating item upon my background. Hope that helps?

This a great guide but I do have one issue. I've used the tracker before, I used it for text, not an image, but when I tried to use the tracker before adding the image it crashed not only Davinci but my whole PC. Like I said, I've used it before with no issue, so why now? I did do this on an already rendered video that I brought back into Davinci, could that be the issue? Should I try it on the un-rendered video instead? I intend to try it that way anyway but a second opinion is always nice.

Have you upgraded your version of DaVinci since doing it last time? To be honest, I don't really know! I mean it shouldn't matter if it's rendered as far as I know. It's been awhile since I've played with the tracking. I'll tinker with it later and if I find anything out I'll let you know. Have you done the 'ol reboot your computer first? Hehe. Sorry I know it's basic but sometimes we forget... and it works!

Currently, I have version 18.5, I even double-checked because when I render I render out in MP4, and I noticed that's what you were using so I figured it shouldn't be a problem. Before I tried tracking, I didn't reboot. I had to step away from my PC so I was unable to do anything else or try again but when I got back I decided to try it with the video I already had all cut up and sure enough it tracked with no problem. So I'm not sure if it was a fluke and my PC just needed a refresh or if there was an issue. But if you find anything else out I would love to hear back from you!

Hello, i hope you see my comment because I wanna know how you removed the background in the sunglasses. I downloaded the same sunglasses as you, because I wanted to try it. But when I put my media in it wasn't only the sunglasses there was also the background so it was just a block of white and then the sunglasses. I probably explained it bad. But when I have a picture then i cant remove the background because i only want the hat sunglasses beard but its blocky. Sorry for wasting your time but if you know what I mean then please help.

Haha yeah I know what you mean! I removed the background in Photoshop and turned it into a .PNG which is just an image file type that allows you to have invisible backgrounds basically. There are websites that will remove the background for you if you don't know how to do it OR you can search for sunglasses png on google and find websites that you can download images with no backgrounds. Hope that makes sense! Good luck!

I went over this tutorial multiple times. I can't get the tracker to analyze the object I'm highlighting. It has a green screen element that just isn't catching. I tried changing color channels, luma channels, alpha, and I still cant' get it to run.

Heyo! Honestly, we've been moving and out of our house for the last few months and my Resolve skills are super rusty at the moment. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you. What are you trying to do though, can you be more specific? You have an object you want to track to something in your footage or is it more complicated. I couldn't quite understasnd.

@@thesahdstudio what I was trying to do was track a lens flare to the camera movement of the clip but once done I was unable to change to blend mode of that lens flare to something like color Dodge or screen.

Hmmm, it's been awhile since I've used this so it's not fresh in my brain. You could just remove the match move or you could hide the video track it's on? Does that work for you?

It's a good question! I haven't played around with this feature in awhile so I don't know off the top of my head. One way I could think of would be, do it with one image. Then on your timeline render-in-place that clip so it becomes its own clip. Then just repeat the process with another image over that clip.

I believe if you go back into fusion you can just refresh the clip? But honestly it's been a while since I've played around with this feature so I'd have to check. If I get the chance to do it tomorrow I'll let you know 👊
