This was helpful. thanks. I want to use a tracker to pan and zoom as necessary to keep an object in a more or less fixed position in the frame through the clip. I know how to do this manually with keyframing transform. I'm hoping to find a way to use a tracker to do it automatically as a first cut which I can refine with manual keyframing of transform if necessary. I've seen other requests for this functionality - and at least one comment saying it can be done in fusion - but haven't found a way to do it. Can you show us how to do that?

Jay, I love your videos, especially the ones with a skit. They really stand out. I like the way your node pipes stay straight when you move the nodes around. I looked through all of the settings and couldn't find out how to do it. Can you explain? TKS
@JayLippman
@JayLippman Жыл бұрын
Yup! You want 2 settings changed. First, right click on an empty area in the new graph. Go to options>orthagonal pipes. Then right click again, go to arrange tools>to grid. And I'm glad you're enjoying my videos! Thanks for watching!

@@JayLippman Great!. I just found the method you described and it works. I had tried the top line menu under Fusion>Fusion Settings>Flow>Options>Pipe Style>Orthagonal>Save and it DOESN'T WORK even with Arrange to Grid checked. Looks like a bug to me! Anyway, the other method is simpler. Thanks for the quick reply.

As always, very much appreciated. I have I think a fairly typical beginner question/task that you or one of the viewers know the best approach: Headed out on a cruise where whale watching is a big part of the trip. I have a 500mm lens and can record at 8K. You showed me how to use key frames for smooth zooming which I plan to utilize, 4x in both X and Y; I won’t have a tripod and at essentially 40x zoom the subject will be moving around my FOV. What’s the best way to track the whale such that it stays center frame? Mucho crop not an issue since I’m zoomed in at 4x. Any help from anyone?

Definitely would like to see more detailed tutorials for tracking. I used power window in the color page to track a fast moving subject along with the removal tool. Is there anyway to set the tracker to certain duration, for example, I have a 16 second clip with a football player. I want to track the subject from the 6 second mark to the 11 second mark and then stop the tool from tracking. Is this possible in Davinci Resolve? Thanks for all the great content that you share 💯‼️

Thanks Jay! But as a beginner in resolve I have a question. IF a tracker did not work as well as I hoped for, how can I manualy fix the keyframes? I have a problem with some footage. The tracker only follows the fist part of a flying bird. When the bird turns around the tracker seems to be lost. How can I fix that? Greeting from the Netherlands.

The video was a good introduction to tracking… But do you really expect anybody to understand how to do 3-D tracking from watching this video? I hope not. But as you suggested at the beginning of your video… You should make videos that are very very detailed and exactly how everything works. We would all like that. If we’re interested in the subject it doesn’t matter how long the video is it only matters that it’s understandable and clear. And you have made some great videos in the past and I know you can do it again.
@JayLippman

I don't expect people to understand exactly how to use any of the trackers from just this video. This video was just a “what tracker to use for what situation” video. I plan on doing more detailed tutorials. That last sentence has me curious, by the way. Care to explain?

Very new to Fusion. I have a scene, a green screen scene, with a group of actors and the camera starts on the right and pans left. The background image is a static still that does not move, and the effect looks wrong. I want the background image to sort of pan left with the people. So, if there were a door on the right at the start of the pan, it would leave focus as we pan left to other parts of the room. How might I set that up? Thanks.
@JayLippman
@JayLippman 10 ай бұрын
If its just a left-right pan then you can do it with a transform node by keyframing the backgrounds position, or, if there's a part of a person that is still throughout the shot, you can us the basic tracker to track the person and have the background follow the tracker position.

Ok here is a real question tho, the color page has some really powerful tools for background replacement, face tracking, etc. However they don't seem to integrate well with fusion. How do you use those tools in a composing workflow?
@JayLippman
@JayLippman Жыл бұрын
Tye reason why they don't integrate well with fusion is because the color page happens after the fusion page in the order of operations. So you would have to do any fusion compositing first, then do anything in the color page that you want to do.

Nothing is hopeless lol. You just have to keep the order of operations in mind when planning your edits. You can also check what's available in the fusion page. Some of this color page tools are available in Fusion. Magic Mask, for example.
