I watch his show every saturday and bought the book kzbin.infoUgkxGQVgV21bQ7B9b9duQ1ByImyT9xHbjOKq because i like his method. He's very talktative in the book about his dog training experiences with several different breeds over the years. When he does get to the training chapters, you need to read more slowly, take mental or written notes and try to apply his advice to your pet. That's where i'm at now. Another review is in order aftet i've trained my blue mountain shepherd with brandon mcmillan's method.

@Static Resurrection Official, I'm going to prove that he's really good at training dogs. I'm getting a dog soon. I 100% recommend his vids. And not all dogs are the same so it's either easier or harder to train a dog. Inertia is just very active and hyper. So it's not Zak's fault.

People out here teaching their dogs to speak and I’m just trying to teach mine to not speak.
@taylorthomas64894 жыл бұрын
To teach your dog not to speak first have them speak and treat them. Then give them a command like quiet and and hand signal and when they are quiet even for a second say "good boy/girl" and reward them. Get them to speak again and repeat. Slowly make the time longer and longer till they really get it.

Very likely NOT barking is the first thing your dog needed to learn. Some dogs need the "come" command more. I allow my dog(s) to growl, but not to bark. Doing this fulfills one important aspect of their need to express themselves, but keeps the volume low. The real trick is training them to sing without barking.
@katelynwoodworth99894 жыл бұрын
You've helped me so much with raising my puppy. She just turned 1 year in April and we taught her the speak/quiet drill because she's a Goldendoodle with a lot of sass to go around, hehe. She loves barking so we taught her to vocalize quietly (woof) and just heavily rewarded that over speak and now she goes around the house mumbling to herself about every little thing and very rarely barks indoors. It's become a very charming feature of her personality especially since she gets to talk back to us when we snuggle. I wouldn't have figured that out if it weren't for your videos!
@spitfirepam3 жыл бұрын
I just tried this. I had to be patient and wait her out. It took her a minute or two to even start trying things. She stared at me at first, wheels turning. When she made the tiniest sound, I signaled and treated her. Within another 2 minutes, she had it, and I added the word speak. Now we will practice this a few times a day, a few minutes each time. Along with her other wonderful skills I have been able to teach her thanks to Zac's videos. Her "leave it" is on point! When told to leave it, she will either turn away from the treat or stare into my eyes until I release her and give her the treat. Thank you Zac!

Hey Zak! Thanks for your training videos! I just ordered from PupBox finally. Kong toys have been helping. Bailey is 6 months and we have been working on different commands that we watched/learned from your videos the day we brought her home…! At nine weeks she would come and sit! First day, no joke! At six months she gets up on her haunches, stands all the way up, dances a little bit, she lays, crawls, sort of speaks, rolls over and then back over, and she is doing better on her heel commands. She will come while she’s in the house, but outside not so much. My hubby is starting to train her on the long leash and I just learned from PupBox about stopping when she pulls on the leash. Next, getting her to stop jumping up on people and learning the “door threshold” commands. She has gotten out on me three times now lately. Thanks!

You are so VERY good!! Great Channel! Great Books! Great work Zak!! You da Man! Regarding thresholds: Your way is the best way imo, but another that works well is training them to never cross thresholds without a leash on. This works SUPER well, and you can take the leash off within a few steps when appropriate. Regarding speaking: Barking yourself is the best prompt imo; say the word Speak, then bark, and tempting them into it themselves. So fun!! Transition the pup into Singing... I kid you not!! Regarding treats: Using treats is more for the trainer's benefit than the Dog's, generally speaking. Generally I don't use them, but will if they are slow to understand that I have "expectations" of them... and then I quit using them immediately. Great Channel! Great Books! Great work Zak!! You da Man!

Hi zak, I really like your videos and I’m thinking of adopting a puppy during these times. Do you think it’s safe to adopt a dog now.
