What's Up Everyone!
In this video I will show you the very first steps to training a RELIABLE RECALL! Biggest mistake dog owners make when attempting to teach this is MOVING WAY TOO FAST! To build a legitimate recall takes hundreds - thousands of perfect repetitions in a controlled environment. Sure, some can get super lucky and have a dog that just "does it", but even then, I bet I could find some major holes!
This exercise can be applied to any dog of any age!

Just came in from trying this out with each of my labs (in different sessions). Now I'm tired but that was soooo much fun and a big moral booster for myself. The hardest part was digging out the retractable leash (and emotions) I had for my lab who we lost to old age about 6 years ago (love and miss you Belle).

@@AndyKrueger you also been saving me money. By saying use kibble and make the dog work for his food. Using treats all the time is also cost, now I just purchase treats like every second month all thanks to you. In future videos it would be nice to see mental sitimulation videos on a job to give your dog like for couple of hours in when you not around. Like I been giving my dog a kong toy stuffing it with treats like once a day or twice. And another mental exercise I give him to do is, I put treats in a empty plastic bottle and he must figure out how to get it out. I am also thinking of hidding treats in a bottle in the yard or in a kong toy and he must look for it, just to keep my dogs mind mentally sharp. Would be nice if you can do few video ideas on this topic🤙

My female Jack Russell was rescued from the streets of Sydney's Kings Cross we connected right from the start. I get around on a mobility scooter so using a lead is difficult so luckily she always comes when I blow the horn I bought from a Two Dollar shop. One time at 1am she took off with her Chihuahua boy friend I didn't know where they went so I just rode around the streets blowing the horn and they finally emerged from a block of flats. She's so loyal and obedient and she's just woken up so I better take her out for her midnight walkies.

I spent about six weeks at Michael Ellis school, but it was over ten years ago. My wife has a new dog (working line GSD), and I am attempting to coach her training. So I am reviewing a lot of other trainers to expand my knowledge. Ellis suggests restrained recalls for introducing the recall. But our problem is that I am just too much of a distraction to be an effective helper. This food technique is brilliant. I did suggest a minor refinement to the wife. Kibble in the bowl and meat roll in her bait bag. Might be too valuable and interfere with the attraction of the bowl, but it is worth an experiment.

im picking up a 4 month belgian shepherd trevuren next week. is going jogging bad exercise for him while hes not trained to be on the leash/pulling?

Yes extremely BAD! This will cause hip dysplasia, major growth issues and horrible arthritis. Do not run until 1.5-2years old when the growth plates are closed.

I’ve seen a lot of dog trainers using Malinois, GSD’s ...very highly trainable breeds. If it’s such a great training methodology can you guys please use different breeds. For instance, Beagles or Independent minded oriented LGD’s like Anatolians. Don’t get lazy on me and choose a Great Pyrenees...please and thanks

You spelled Malinois wrong. Don’t get lazy on me, spell check. Please and thanks! 😚

@@AndyKrueger I’ve already subscribed 😂 My fat fingers on a phone made the spelling error, plus I’m not a grammar Nazi… and you refused to answer my question. Can your training methods be applied to Breeds like an Anatolian LGD or a Beagle that’s led around by his nose ? The lazy part was a joke (still no Great Pyrenees) Thanks for the quick response

@@82DannyB Haha! All good! I like jokes! If I had one of those breeds from day one, and raised/ trained them under a legitimate training system, they would be able to be trained and do well. But no, they’d never be as flashy and high drive as a Malinois. If I got one of those breeds when they were older and had a bunch of experience that didn’t come from me, no doubt they’d be way more difficult to train and possibly never achieve my standard. Genetics matter so much! Beagles and LGDs are capable of things shepherds are not and vice versa. I’m capable of great things but would never stand a chance in the NFL or NBA! No matter my level of training! 😆🙌🏻🙏🏼

@@AndyKrueger I’m looking into getting Two breeds of rare dogs (landrace) dogs one from Uruguay and one from Italy. Both breeds are in the LGD and guarding, boar hunting, tracking etc. Both have been used by police and military in their respective countries, so after more research I’m pretty sure they are trainable LGD’s. Yes I’m getting them as puppies, so I’m basically taking in as much training knowledge prior.

I have 4 year old German shepherds and they like disgracing me in public. They obey commands when we r alone but not in public, and people also say they behave like local dogs. How can I stop all of that?

Isn't it bad pulling him with the leash when he doesn't come (rather than for instance go get method)? Or what do you think. Anyway ready for 1000 repetitions

Yeah it is. Bc he won’t listen off leash when called bc he is use to being pulled on the neck when called.
