Best health advice for the average Joe I have seen on KZbin. This is coming from a doctor.
@iz73477 ай бұрын
Probably the worst advice I have seen in a long time. It is what people want to hear and not what is actually healthy. As far as I know doctors learn nothing about nutrition and nothing about health so why mentioning it?
@mrsoul42317 ай бұрын
@@iz7347What was wrong with it?
@iz73477 ай бұрын
@@mrsoul4231 too much fiber, too much sugar. when someone tells you to eat fruit all day, he has no clue that fructose is metabolized like alcohol and you can actually damage your liver just with "natural" fruit. Real fruits don't have as much sugar as the stuff you can buy in the supermarket. And most vegetables you wouldn't even consider as food in their natural form. The easiest way to judge if something is healthy, is to think about our ancestors as hunters and gatherers. They had access to a lot of things, but not throughout the year and most plants only in very small amounts (also no processed grains). Our digestive system is clearly that of a carnivore and suffers from too much fiber and sugar. Also all mammals live from fat as primary energy source and not carbs (maybe there are some fruit-monkeys or something but even plant-eaters metabolize the fiber to fat and not carbs). There is no reason to believe that humans are an exception to this. Being able to store glycogen is not proof that you have to eat carbs. It is just an adaption for times when better food is scarce. Carbs are maybe good in autumn when harvesting season was to get fat for the winter but I guess it is still healthier to skip that. Most people never realize how addictive carbs are. To quote Mitchell Hooper: "Carbs make me happy" yes, because it is a drug. Heroin makes people happy, too, until they come down :D
@PLTgamer6 ай бұрын
@@iz7347what advice would you give then?
@iz73476 ай бұрын
@@PLTgamer I already answered with a long explanation but it was deleted, apparently. Basically: Don't eat too much plant-based food and strictly control your carb-intake (for example carbs only in the afternoon/evening or go keto). Your digestion will thank you.

Except for the soda companies. Strange thinking on his part, a little short with wisdom.
@soerenbo7 ай бұрын
@@kevinburtnick7818 Soda isn't fundamentally bad it's all a question of balance and if you know when and how to use it and how much you consume. Food mostly isn't just black or white, the sum is what matters, and sometimes the extra sugar can help people to get through a task or their day. Of course it's not the only thing that can help in that situation, but its an option. One of the most important things in nutrition and dietary science is to stop seeing food categories as fundamentally bad or good and caring more about the sum and your individual use case.
@kevinburtnick78187 ай бұрын
@soerenbo You may not fully understand human behavior. We don't require statistics to comprehend the devastation caused by food addiction. Soda consumption is a significant factor, look around. Type 2 diabetes rates are soaring, and heart disease remains the leading cause of death, largely due to diet. Does moderation work for an alcoholic? And good and bad, right and wrong exist. Respectfully,
@soerenbo7 ай бұрын
@@kevinburtnick7818 Odd of you to immediatly attack my "understanding" of human behaviour just because i disagree. Soda is not the one major factor, a bad diet is a bad diet, you can also only drink diet soda or water and still have a bad diet. I understand your point, but it's still "wrong" for me to pick on soda specifically, because it's easily possible to have a balanced and healthy diet and still drink (some) soda. It's not the one thing that makes people fat, it's one factor, but not the one. Yes there are lots of people who don't understand the amount of calories they put into themselves while drinking, but that still doesn't make it wrong to drink it if you know how to dose and balance it. That's my whole point and a part of this videos message, balance is the key, most things aren't fundamentally bad.

Really enjoy your videos and you deliver as always, but I think you Should have added a fourth coloumn for sleep. Majority of people neglect sleep and lose a ton of benefits/exposes themselves for health risks that comes along with it. Studies Im too lazy to quote show that a lack of sleep makes people choose unhealthy food-options more easily and Im pretty sure your metabolism is slightly Worse as well (a bit unsure about the last point). In addition one will have more energy, and therefore more willpower and drive to exercise more, or at all. All of this makes it easier sticking to eating healthy food, but all of the other benefits of enough sleep makes it worth while alone. I Get the point of the video is to simplify a confusing subject, but i think sleep is too overlooked to not be mentioned here For anyone actually reading this, i highly recommend the book ‘Why we sleep’ by Matthew walker. A lot of useful info, and it debunks some old myths about sleep as well. Love your vids and style tho❤️
