I eat whole shrimps for many years. I chew the whole shrimp...head, shell, legs, tail...nothing left. I got no side effects or ill effect. I can eat up to 20 big shrimps this way per sitting. The head is actually the tastiest part, thats where all the flavors are in Except if its a very big thing like a prawn or lobster, the shell is already hard and spiny

Damn us Southerners on the gulf coast that are spoiled with tons and tons of fresh seafood especially shrimp never eat the heads pr tails of shrimp we always peel them off before eating the boiled shrimp. Imma have to try the heads this0 morning when i make shrimp and grits.
