Did you know that you could get edit ProRes RAW in Resolve this way?

I'm so glad Google AI suggested this video when I searched for editing ProRes RAW in DaVinci R. GREAT video; Thank you PhotoJoseph for this. Much RESPECT.

I've used Adobe Premiere for 25 years. But after the recent Adobe BS treating customers badly and the fact that Premiere crashed 10 times with my i9 PC. I'm seriously going to consider DaVinci Resolve for my next film. (Shark) Is Raw Convertor available for Windows?

It appears to be! www.rawconvertor.com/

Super helpful. Subscribed! We already went over budget and am not keen on spending the $75 license fee from "Raw Convertor" to convert from ProRes RAW to CDNG. Still, I guess this is the best application to utilize without sacrificing image quality.

Yep. It’s the necessity if you’re blending techs like this. Good luck!

@@photojoseph Bad thing is the Maker/owner of Raw Convertor (to the contrary of the Blackmagic policy in which they respect buyers and sell their product - DaVinci Resolve- lifetime) sells not lifetime, not even subscription, but a license for a camera… I plan to shift fm gh5s to gh7 and do not want to pay each and every time I use a different camera.. and to say the truth I curse Blackmagic for that as it is all about software capabilities to utilise when dealing with various codecs and formats they can cope with ProRes LT HQ 222 but not Raw..(( the whole audience is whinning for 5 years or more asking to include this capability but Blackmagic is ignoring it. Why? They could easily deal with Apple abt licence and if necessity arise make it a plug-in for a price.. I’d better pay money to Blackmagic for a codec than to a 3rd party entrepreneur selling it as a camera license.

Mr. PJ.....hope all is well. I'm sure you've been asked this before. But does Panasonic plan to ever incorporate BRAW internally in their cameras? Seems like it would be a win/win for both BMD and Panasonic. It would definitely increase sales for DR Studio and Lumix cameras. Why only love for ProRes/ProRes Raw?

I don’t have a good answer for you and I certainly would like it too.

hi, great video. At 6:26, in the camera raw tab, why wouldn't my colour space be chosen to specific camera colour space like you, which is Panasonic V- Gamut. the three option I can choose are rec709, P3D60 and black magic design ?

Interesting; what camera did you shoot on? And I’m assuming you converted with Raw Converter (the app shown here)?

Hi I have raw convertor and Assimilate...raw convertor is faster but somehow I have the feeling that assimilate makes the conversion better...
@photojoseph5 ай бұрын
I too have Assimilate and it’s a pain in the 🫏 to use. I’d love to see a comparison quantified because I don’t think it’s better. You have compression levels from nothing to considerable in Raw Converter and the ease of it is unparalleled. If someone can prove that Assimilate is better I’d love to see that.
@filipmichalsaffray4415 ай бұрын
@@photojoseph Yeah the Assimilate IO is old and clumsy I use it to make proxy's of Proresraw footage I had some issue to make proxy from cdng data. About comparaison I have no idea how to make the test but at the same level of compression 3:1 Neat was working slightly faster with Assimilate cdng footage vs raw converter (mostly I transcode S5 org,S5iiX and GH5s and my computer is not the newest as my GPU ) And sometimes with raw converter my PC crashed without raison and I had zero problem with Raw Converter.

I'm using Assimilate Play Pro Studio on Windows to do this conversion. I presume that's similar. Or is there more to it in RAW converter ?
@photojoseph5 ай бұрын
Simplicity. I find Assimilate overly complicated.
@chickenpasta73597 күн бұрын
Assimilate is better for the fact that you don’t need to keep purchasing a license per camera.

Since Apple’s RAW Converter is not available for Windows, do you have any recommended tools that can help me convert ProRes RAW footage into a format compatible with DaVinci Resolve.
@photojoseph2 ай бұрын
It’s not an apple product and it is available on windows.

Hello and thank you very much for your video! I have a FS7 with XDCA and Shogun Inferno and raw convertor does not seem to recognize the files from my camera. When I import them into the software it tells me "video files are broken". I tried to contact the software support but no answer. Do you know if they stopped developing it? Or is the problem maybe from somewhere else? Thank you very much!
@photojoseph7 күн бұрын
I don’t see the FS7 on their compatibility lis, so that’d be why. They’ve been quite responsive to me; it’s worth trying again and noting that you recognize it’s not supported yet, and offering to send raw files that they need to develop it. Honestly the developer is a bit weird. Don’t expect a free license in exchange for providing them the files. But at least you might get support added.

Does timecode get transferred to DNG as well
@photojoseph5 ай бұрын
💯 absolutely - the second half of this video would be impossible without it. I even synced off-camera audio with the DNG via timecode.

#TIL "mezzanine files", call them digital interneg, call them proxies, but oh soo cloud storage delicious! You can work on projects with remote editors. It can be done and reconformed to those large/dng files at the end. NO More Blue Monday.

That conversion company is not gonna last long. B-RAW is gonna be available on Sony cameras this year 😊

What does that have to do with anything? The conversion is ProRes Raw to Cinema DNG.
