I just upgraded to the betts Mullet net and watched this video to get some shad at Craig’s creek and it worked out great. I have been using a 5-6ft net and the way I was throwing it was never gonna work with this new net. Thanks man

I love everything you do on your channel....except how you throw a net....LOL!! You throw it great, amazingly well, but that technique made me make sure I had my rain suit handy before I started.....LOL!! Seriously, good video on cast nets....nice work.

@@hagengrubbsfishing that's how I throw my 8 foot net and I get soaking wet, but it's the only way I have found to get it to open consistently. I might have to do something different come cold weather.

Masterofnone I wear rubber bibs and a waterproof jacket in the winter just because of this technique. But they also keep me very warm because no air passes through. A good layer under the bibs and I stay warm. There are other ways to throw a net and stay dry but they wear me out after a few throws and then I start throwing tacos 🤣 I can throw my 10’ net all day using this technique without ever feeling it. Thanks for watching 👍

Just stepped up from a 6’ betts 3/8” mesh Walmart net to a baitbuster 1/2” mesh 1,5lbs per foot net. Fairly easy to throw but trying a few different techniques for throwing it since it’s heavy as crap. I watched this video before but I wanted to see it again and try a couple things that you do. Great info, thanks brother🤙🏻

Do you always make sure they lay on the ground before you bring in the net?
@hagengrubbsfishing3 жыл бұрын
Most of the time I let it hit the bottom to pin the bait down before I close the net. The only time I don’t is if I’m in really deep water, or if there is a nasty bottom where I might get snagged and damage my net. I hope this answers your question and thank you for watching

Same way I do mine. Also another way to save your shoulder muscles from holding the weight even up off the ground. Is to do your spread on the deck of your boat instead of over your leg so that way you're never holding the lead up until you're ready to stand up and throw. Or if you're doing it from the bank drag your piles of lead over on the ground and reach down with your pinky and grab it and pick it up off the ground or off the dock

Great videos bro! I saw one you put out last may on the ky river. Lockport area. You live in that area? I’m looking to buy some land in ky. I’m considering the Carrollton area. It’s right where the Ohio and ky rivers meet. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Could you give more detail on the release?
@hagengrubbsfishing4 жыл бұрын
Stephen Corley kind of hard to put into words but just a slight upward motion and just let the net do the rest. If it’s loaded right it should pop open. It took me a few tries to get the release right but for me it was a lot less complicated than many other techniques that I tried. Good luck and good fishing. Thanks for watching.

I agree that the Betts Super Pros or Menhaden nets are a good starting point with price vs. quality. But, there are better nets which cost more. The trouble is you begin to dismiss good bait when there's a stick showing up on down imaging in fear of ruining a nice net. I pulled up a 16' tree with my Barracuda net a couple weeks ago. Had to brace one foot on the gunnel and pull with everything I had but the net survived with only a couple small holes. That would have shredded one of my cheaper nets.

that's how I threw a 16' back when young with putting, what you grab with pinky, in between my teeth. But also got distance doing a 360*
@gradyvago54264 жыл бұрын
Thats great if you only have to through it once, otherwise, you will get wet to your waist if you have to throw it twice.
