Ma please you said that if I want to make it two places that top and skirt, I should measure the waist fill up and share it half to the top blouse and half to the skirt to achieve skirt and blouse, well understood. My question is how do I manage the arm hole side for both front and back blouse to be equal. I have taken my side dart but due to the fill up, my front side is longer by 1 inch, please help. Hello E28, this is a wonderful tutorial...but my point of worry is the hip line, it was disjointed during the manipulation process and the hip line is no more perpendicular to the floor, and the side curve isn't as it was before. Please can you clarify me on this

Zazy, I tried her method on my pattern and it works. You can redraw the hip line. The side seam can always be manipulated to the shape of the body with fabric. Hope this explanation helps. Peace.

From what I’ve always understood, it can be helpful to tape a length of paper from the bottom of the armscye to the bottom of the skirt and draw a new curve to smooth out the waist and add the width that you took out back to the bottom side (which shouldn’t be too much)

Draw some diagonal lines about half an inch from the side seam to your hem and you will get the flare.

Yes, you can leave the darts in the back alone. You will sew them up during garment construction and achieve your perfect fit.

If the skirt becomes longer, you can shorten it. A tight dress may mean you need a bigger size. You can add looseness at the side seam...no more than 3/4 inch or your sleeve will become affected.

I tried it but then my back and front waist lines didn’t match up anymore at the sides, the armholes too, neither did they align at the hem. If I tried to make it work at any point something would totally be off like if I tried to align it at the hem, the armholes and the waistlines would look so damn off

I think you should try again. I practically used the same pattern for the front and back. I only added zipper allowance to the back.

Heya, I have done this for my front bodice pattern piece which originally only had one dart in front the shoulder to bust. I then followed your tips to transfer and then remove it. But now it doesn't look like it will align with the back piece which was designed with no darts originally. Should I transfer a back to to the back and then use the same method as you showed us to remove it so that they will then match up? Thankyou so much for explaining this all so clearly ❤️❤️

You just need to true up the lines correctly on your front bodice then match it to the back as was done in the video. Hope this helps.
