It never occurred to me in ten years to disengage my knife while actively serging. It seems obvious now that you mention it, but for some reason I never figured it out. This is going to improve my results dramatically---no more sloppy, uneven waistbands or hems. Thanks so very much!

This video is awesome! I purchased a set 6 additional attachments when I bought my serger and this foot was included. Glad to see how I can use it other than for hemming.

Thank you! Finally, a tutorial on how to serge elastic w/in a casing! I'm encasing the elastic in half flannel & half lining fabric. The flannel is too thick & will bunch up far too much for a nice looking adult skirt ...

Lissa thank you! I was so excited too when I first saw this in my grandmother’s serger workbook. :)

Awesome video! I’m always trying to figure out how to use my serger more in sewing clothing. I’m even thinking about using the serger for piecing quilt squares.

Wow, I have liked this video previously so must have watched it but I don't remember doing it! It's brilliant, should be a perfect finish for waterproof pants where I'd prefer to have as few holes on the outside as possible.

Omg this is going to save me so much time and headaches. Lol how much do you add to your seam allowance for the 1 inch elastic? I ask because I’m modifying a pattern that didn’t call for an elastic waist band. Plus the pants sit lower then my liking. I want to add 1 inch elastic. But I’m stuck how much to add to the top? 2 inches? Less more? If I do this hem like you show what do you suggest?

I have a question ! If you want to secure the waistband from twisting or bending would you do a top stitch on the outside all the way around or just add like 4 secure points one on each side front and back . I make pajama shorts and I have a wide waist band so it can easily twist or flip. I am new to this and have been researching but not much luck. In your opinion which method would be more effective ? If all the way around would you do 2 rows . Hope that makes sense! Great video btw :)
@SewDecorous5 жыл бұрын
Jessica Mcmurtrie Thank you! In your case I would probably just tack it in a few places, but you could try both methods to see what you prefer. Another option is to try non-roll elastic. :)

What pattern did you uses for the curved elastic? Also with non roll ribbed elastic it is thicker too. Do you do any straight stitching to stop roll over?

So how do a sew a casing for elastic on a pair of pants ?
@SewDecorous4 жыл бұрын
Lala Rene’e if the pattern is like this where the casing is made by folding the fabric over, you can do it this way. If the waistband is a separate piece, then this would not work.
