How To Encourage A Dog To Stay Standing During Grooming

My little girl is very good about standing. She never lies down, but if she gets tired she will sit down.

My 14 month old Mini Schnauzer has Cogenital Myotonia and he much prefers to be laying down. I keep his grooming sessions pretty short and give him breaks. I try to do as much as I can with him lying down…but, shaping the legs - he needs to stand up! Thanks for the tip!

Thank you for this tip. I am going to try this out later today. You inspired me to try to get my dogs nails shorter with regular trimming and grinding. I am aiming for once a week but I am not always to get every nail in each session as my dog still has low tolerance

Thanks. I can even try this toweling off our one dog when he comes in all wet. Before I can get to his hind legs he is sitting and lowering his whole body to the ground. I will see if I can be quick and smooth enough to get it done.

Great tip! Still trying to do my rescue boys nails. Next week using anxiety meds at vet. Funny, he hears dremel on your vids and wants to go outside! Otherwise he's the best. Thanks again for your educational diagrams/demos.
