Wow, is this possible in copper? Been playing with aluminum lately.. would like to have a hold of this spray!!
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
Copper is the most difficult metal to use spray marking chemicals on. It reflects a ton of the laser light and makes it very difficult to heat up to the temps needed to bond with the spray. I've seen it done but don't have experience with it personally.

The black mark comes off after i polish my metal, what part of the setting should i change ? Btw your videos have helped me so much, so thank you !
@LaserEverything2 жыл бұрын
This should be the LAST thing you do to your metal. Brilliance is just a surface bond, it holds up pretty well to scratches and dings but a full on polish is gonna be tough for this to survive. If anything make sure your metal is getting hot enough - especially difficult with aluminum. Heat is required for the bonding process to take place, too much and it will burn away, too little and it won't bond. It's a fine needle to thread.

Diode lasers in the 5w range typically do not have the power required to mark aluminum.

Can someone help me how to make that black colour? I tried for many times but failed, thanks
@LaserEverything2 жыл бұрын
Make sure that you're defocusing or using a large enough lens. If you're using too small or a lens, the dot size will be too small and will just burn the catalyst away before it has time to react with the laser.

Please help!! Why am I getting lines in my black engraving when the diameter changes 🤷♂️ using stainless steel. I can get a lively gloss like finish on a smaller diameter but when I use same set up just change diameter size on rotary (ezcad) I get awful lines appearing ?!
@LaserEverything7 ай бұрын
If the lines follow the orientation of the rotary, it's likely the split size and line distance not jiving together. The lines are usually a result of the line distance/interval not dividing evenly into the split size, leaving a "remainder" that doesn't get filled. It may just be more noticeable on different diameter items due to size maybe. If that doesn't help out, join one of our communities in the description and you can make a thread post where the support community can dig into it a bit more and help troubleshoot

Any idea how to black mark on chrome?
@LaserEverything3 жыл бұрын
It's not really feasible on just the surface of the chrome. Really depends on the metal underneath because whatever you do you're likely going to just mark through the chrome itself and do your best to get a black mark on the underlying material.

Do you know of a QR code engraved on stainless steel metal in the back of the watch would be readable?
@LaserEverything11 ай бұрын
Glare/angle of the camera reading the code would be a factor on that and surrounding light sources, so the darker the mark or contrast from the surrounding metal, the easier it should be to read. If the metal isn't polished or shiny, it would be easier, but it just depends on the circumstances. On stainless, I would try following the Z mark method from our z-mark stainless video, it provides the deepest of black marks.

We left the metal for about two weeks with the Brilliance Inks still on a part of the plate. Same conditions and it failed miserably really bad result. Do you have any idea how long you can leave Brilliance Inks on metal before it loses its ability to work? We have no other reason why - may be you or someone knows the answer. Cheers David

In my experience the only thing you really have to *kinda* worry about is copper. The reflection index of gold and silver *in my opinion* is not something you have to worry about. Any modern fiber laser is equipped with a standard anti reflection coating that is in-tact unless you take your lens apart for some reason. I still engrave copper with my fiber and anecdotally I haven't had any issues. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. Now industrial sized fiber laser metal cutting machines is a different story...
