@@GardenofGiants I’m so sorry about that. 😢

I’m fine now, whenever you have a pumpkin that doesn’t make it there are things you can glean from it to hopefully improve your season next year and that’s what I am going to do!!

That's really nice of you Chris.

Thanks so much!!! But it’s really about celebrating the achievements that all of you giant growers do every single year and most of it just flies under the radar!! We all work hard to grow these giant fruits and veggies and they should not only be acknowledged and celebrated but there should be proper recordkeeping of it!!

I love that your doing this chris!!! Thank you for all of the work your willing to put into this.

Thanks so much Clint!!! It’s truly something our hobby needs from a simple recordkeeping standpoint but more so for recognition because a lot of giant growers grow more than just pumpkins!!

I sure do appreciate this and all of your efforts. I am growing giant tomatoes and would love to learn more about how to get my fruit recognized. I would love to know where to weigh my tomatoes and join in the fun.

You can turn in your tomato through “early tomatoes” with the “GPC” and your tomato will officially be recorded for all of history. The process does involve you bringing your Tomato to a state certified scale. you’ll need pictures and at least one witness and you’ll have to get measurements. Pretty simple process and I’ll probably have a video about exactly how to do it once we get into Midsummer.

WONDERFUL IDEA CHRIS!!!! This is a great idea because for people like me in a state that has no information on any records except for pumpkins, it is a big sigh of relief that there will be information available. I have spent over six months, contacting several departments and extensions and no one seems to have any information on anything I live in a state where it appears that county fairs are what hold different records and most of those don’t even keep the records so your idea is fabulous and I am very excited and you have motivated me to start growing more big item!!!!! Please provide information on where we can find this list of 55 items you mentioned or when it will be available inquiring minds want to know😂

I have found the same thing in my research and it just makes it so difficult to find records for people that are looking so I figured I will take it in my own hands and try to create a database of all the records. As far as the 55 different fruits and veggies I will post them on the Facebook group and probably do a little something on KZbin as well to show them!!

This sounds awesome! I'm just curious how it intertwines with the GPC records. For example, I live in Wisconsin and I know there's known state records for the 7 categories that are weighed at the weigh offs. So I would have to top one of them known GPC state records, correct? Also, will this deal with any kind of fruit/vegetable or flower or is there a list of competitive categories? I grew a nice sized pineapple here in Wisconsin, that might have been a state record!!! But I ate it😂 Thank you!!! I look forward to learning more and joining in!
@GardenofGiants Жыл бұрын
Yes to get an official state record it must beat the current record no matter if it was through the GPC, state and fair or some other competition… I urge you to bring your Giants to a GPC event as they will do an accurate measurement of your giant…. However for this initiative you do not necessarily have to go to a GPC event.

I do have a list of 55 fruits veggies and flowers that are on the west I will try to post a video showing those 55 but I will keep track of…. All of them are a single season grow which means we’re all mature within less than a year, unfortunately I do not keep pineapple along with a lot of other stuff that is not commonly grown throughout the world.

@@GardenofGiants Thank you! I really think this is an awesome idea. I've always felt limited to the GPC categories and them categories are mostly large vining plants that take a lot of space to grow. I really don't have much space so it makes it difficult. I have always loved the tomato category because you can grow them almost anywhere by anyone for that matter. Mine this year are growing in pots at the end of my driveway so they get some sun ( I'm surrounded by woods ). Thank you for the info and I'll be watching your Future videos!

Yeah some states will definitely be tougher to hit records and then others…. But just think of it as a way to push yourself to do better and grow bigger😎
