Took me about 20 tries, was about to give up and then it worked, Thank you! The trick for me was to be patient and not race the lights, this is not a timed procedure. Start the car shorted, Wait a second after the light goes out before unshorting, then wait a second after the light goes on before shorting again. you'll know it worked if the light flashes 3 times after 3 short/unshort cycles.

Having trouble with getting the paper clip in and out and back in again? Try this...break the paper clip into two pieces. Then stick one half in the left side and the other in the right. When the two halves are not touching, it is the same as the paper clip being out. When you touch the exposed ends together it is the same as the paper clip being inserted. So instead of taking it out and fumbling to get it back in, just leave the two halves in and with the other exposed ends either connect them or disconnect them.

Tried it this morning on my old 2001 Civic GX and it worked great. I snipped the paper clip in half and put each half into a respective hole, and then hooked up a remote starter switch to them. Was able to leave the paper clip halves in during the entire process and was able to see the instrument panel to know when to press/release the button on the remote switch.

So this turns the light off, but does it correct the problem of why the light came on in the first place. There’s a reason it came on to begin with. I guess my question is, will the airbag system still operate properly, or does this just turn the warning light off?

It worked on my 2003 Acura 1.7 EL. I found the plug was tricky to "short" with the paper clip while splitting my attention to watch for the SRS light to come on and go out on the dash so I got my youngest to do spotter duty while I focused on paper clip placement. 3 on / 3 out worked like a charm. @@markdowlatkhah2254 I just spent 4 hours looking for the MES connector on a 2013 civic, and I'm convinced it doesn't exist. Hours of googling and this is the only comment I could find that hinted the problem wasn't fixable in this way on the 2013 Civic. Not sure if you have any additional details about this but... this comment is the only thing keeping me from going crazy about not being able to find the MES on this car.

Worked on my '05 Civic after a few tries to get the timing just right. Airbag light blinks twice when done correctly to indicate that it has been reset.

Whats the point of doing this if your srs system is still going to have a problem? The light will just come back on won't it? I think you should mention that this method should ONLY be done AFTER fully correcting the initial srs airbag problem, otherwise you're your'e srs system is still not going to work properly in the event of an accident.

THIS SECOND TIME DID ANY PROCEDURE AGAIN WALKED WITH CAR ONE NIGHT OF 10 KM WITH FLASHLIGHT ON TWO HOURS THEN WENT ON AGAIN AND MY SURPRISE HAD NO CHARGE ON BATTERY OR THE HEADLIGHTS AND OTHER lit DETAIL TO ME WAS WORRIED THAT WHEN WAS NOT ON lit BATTERY LIGHT PANEL AND NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS LIT .The THAT MAY BE THAT BREAD?
