Check out the video he put on the bottom of the screen at 0:42 that guy got put in a rear naked choke in front of all those people and nobody helped him. It’s sad that people can be so rude and not help a person who is in danger.

The only person that will stab you like that is a serial killer or an assassin (maybe a jealous spouse?) both which are extremely rare. Right!! Rear Naked Choke comes from Judo, where it is taught properly. Prior to the development of Judo, it was in Jujitsu and other Japanese arts. As well as Chinese arts, and no doubt others. There are ancient drawings, dating back to ... ohh.. I forget.... 2500 years or so, that depict many techniques common to Judo and other arts. No doubt the ancients knew how to fight. Alexander the Great was around 300 B.C., he and his army knew how to fight. He went all the way to Western India, then just stopped. So did Alexander bring to India "fighting techniques" which then developed into Indian "fighting arts"? Which then went to China and developed into Shaolin martial arts and others. Which then went to Japan. etc, etc. etc..

As someone who’s trained jiu jitsu for 10+ years , The second technique would be the most effective IMO. Remember the first step is always to face your hips perpendicular to his. You CANNOT let him stay behind you. This isn’t going to work all the time but it’s definitely your best chance of escaping.

@@subscriberswithnoVideos-yx3jf Blech!!! You might get AIDS!! You need to know WHERE to strike and HOW to strike. Vital points, pressure points, nerve points (these include extreme pain points, organs, and death strikes). Then .... GO!!! .......... and don't stop until it's over!! Either HE or YOU are OVER!!! There are many extremely nasty, painful, and injurious points on the human body which one can attack, strike, poke, grab. Grab tight on his balls and squeezing until he passes out is one possibility ... IF .. it is possible to do so. However, it's not always that easy to do so. Tough if guy is wearing tight leather pants or has a big heavy winter coat hanging down, etc.. If you want to get really nasty .... drive your thumb into his eye ball; drive first finger knuckle under his earlobe; drive a finger into his ear; drive a finger up his nose; as "Tom Cat" said, grab his windpipe (with what is called an "Eagle's Talon". Extremely painful and scary.); and many other things you can do. There are many nerve points. One effective thing to do, is to "finely" pinch the skin just under his tricep, above elbow (i.e. underside from bicep). Hurts like a bastard!! Call also pinch the same way just inside thigh. There are so many points. Too many to list here.

As a person who is trained in self defense from many styles being former military, BOTH of these escapes are great to know. You should never limit your self defense mindset to one doctrine, to one technique. The size of your attack plays a key role as to which method you use. FOr instance, someone much larger than yourself can also do a total body-weight drop and take you to ground where you are in defense and a much more negative position. I applaud BOTH of these techniques. Learn from as many doctrines as you can, combine them. Always remember though, your first responsibility to never allow yourself to be taken by surprise but in the event that you are taken off-guard, the quicker you escape, the better off you are. Never try to stand and fight it out or punish the person who has attacked you. By doing so, you are using valuable energy that soon, you may need to defend against a growing number of assailants. So defend, take them out, neutralize them for good and escape. GREAT VIDEO GUYS!

It's a standing RNC... little bit different. :) Both of these maneuvers COULD work... and probably would work against some opponents... As Bas Rutten says "you have to try something, right?"... and he's correct... I'm a big fan of fighting the top hand... everybody goes to the arm around the neck but when a RNC is applied correctly, the reduction in "pressure" by grabbing the arm around the throat is too negligible to make a difference... reach for the fingers on the top hand and break them if you can... at least use them as leverage to pull the arm away. Anyway, don't know who the BJJ practitioner is in the video but I'm glad to see Jake mixing some more practical styles into his videos.

Once , in a street fight , I was choked like this from behind by a guy outweighing me by at least 100lbs . As soon as he grabed me , I reached back and grabbed his ear , with my fingers , which helped me locate his eye . I then proceded to rip into his eye , with my jagged thumb nail. . He let go and I grabbed him by his throat and pinned him against a Coke machine until I was pulled away from him by a bystander . Take out the eyes , in a street fight . My Sifi was the Late Grandmaster Ting Fong Wong of The Golden Dragon Fighting Society .

Causing the attacker out of balance to release a bear hold or rear choke, is one of the effective methods. You can try with your friend. This method was demonstrated by a Chinese police self-defence coach on the web many years ago. I practise this method and encourage women to use it.

Situational awareness is the most important skill you can learn, first don't enter a "fringe" area, second always be aware of your surroundings, third , as my instructor once told me be able to run --- the best way to defend yourself is to remove yourself from the situation (or potential situation) as quickly as possible.

I think this can't work if he is taller then u and if you don't have the moment of surprise. The ideal choke move is up and a turn that the opposite is falling with his face to the floor. If he close the lock it's as good as over. If you are able to bend down he is already doing it wrong. I would go for the eyes. If u poke and push his eyes with your fingernails he has only the opportunity to make space or to risk eye damage. Only my thoughts...

He loses focus when they get on the ground and misses the opportunity to place himself on his opponent... So he did the choke wrong and would still be able to do it. These chokes are just done wrong mostly. It is essential if the choke is locked to pull up and move back to break the balance and take him to the ground with his face on the floor and you on top. This scenarios where he is choking you and just chills behind you is far from reality... Well stay save out there...

The escape is good, but the takedown is much harder to achieve since the opponent here doesnt move after letting go off the choke. In a live situation he will try to square up with you to try to get the choke back or disengage. But the idea is correct to fall or roll to the non choking side. It will also help to peel the arm off! (Watch conor vs khabib)

Part 1 first: I see the choke applied as a rear choke that either a novice would attempt from a standing position. More like a person abducting a woman. Kevin Lee choked out an opponent using this choke but he was on his back and changed the grip, however, his legs locked in the opponent. I would re-label this video for an average joe doing this. The height difference - Try this police technique: Stomp on back (fild) of the knee to lower the person down before applying the choke. You could also throw a back hammer fist to the groin area to get a brief second of separation. The second choke attempt is more like traditional BJJ. A little more difficulty on escaping.

One good thing you can do, if you turn as they do in this video, sideways now to attacker, you are now essentially in a Side Headlock. Granted it depends upon how well attacker is applying the Rear Naked Choke. keep your neck strong, chin and head down tight, place your left hand across his back as far to his other side as you can, and place your right hand on his left chest. His "action", now, is probably to twist you down to the ground into a side headlock, so go with it. Take your right leg and swing it in between his legs, straight legged like a pendulum, pulling across his back with your left hand, pushing against his chest with your right, and turning your hips ...counter clockwise. This is a variation of "Yoko Guruma" in Judo. Very effective. I have done it many times. When done fast and powerfully, the landing to attacker is not very nice .... and he will let go.

Hey to both gentlemen, u both really done great explaining & demonstrating all 3 ways. Learning how to do all of them actually. I myself think the 1st rear choke defense technique is more productive & useful. With that said one of the reasons why is because the other 2 were amazing but not everyone would be able to move/pick the attacker off the ground. Even with the advantage & stance once u are behind them I still feel like if its a child or someone who doesnt have alot of strength would only get there self hurt. Now if u are capable of pulling the last 2 ways off, yes u would have a better chance of getting away from the attacker. Great job to both of u!! Have just about got all 3 down completely!!

Being a BJJ practitioner I prefer the second guy's method more because it always leaves you in a superior position, and the running away thing may not be an option so it would be better to deliver strikes to one less opponent you may have to face assuming there were/are multiple attackers. Personally, I'd say never run away once you're in a superior position to deliver strikes or especially kicks, the reason being is that you have the advantage and can deliver fight ending strikes/blows which would give you even more time to escape if you didn't want confrontation or enable you to even just simply walk away leaving your opponent limp and beaten. You should run only when you are outnumbered or facing a deadly weapon like a stick, never run from someone with a gun, you have a better chance of getting in close and tussling for disarmament than you have of trying to outrun a bullet or bullets.

If it's on the ground and you can't throw them, you can also push your hand up between their arm and your throat, dispersing the pressure. If they're choking you properly, they'll be using the sharp edge of the ulna to constrict bloodflow, so you'll have - maybe - 3 seconds before you pass out. Slip your hand up in there to reduce the pressure on your carotid artery, giving you more time to escape.

I once put someone out in 4 seconds with a front sleeper hold, there is no escape from it, I learned it in a Judo class when I was only 13. Slight modification was required, as is common with many Japanese techniques (very subtle folks, the Japanese.) I prefer the speed of the first defense; it's simple. My background in Tai-Chi (especially the violent Horse Stance application) makes this an instinctive move. At my age, I no longer practice Chen, but prefer the Hao and Wu styles. The former gathers energy, and the latter moves energy. I ALWAYS carry a knife (legal 3") and occasionally a small can of Pepper Spray, but here in the SF Bay Area, you have to be VERY careful how far you go to defend yourself against your attacker(s). If they can't commit crimes against you in the street, they will commit crimes against you in court. ("Honest your Honor, we was just asking for quarters to play video games.") But DON'T hesitate to act, just cool your tool as soon as you can safely do so.
