After the "shell" of the horn comes off, do you boil it? Or pressure wash the inside? Just curious if there's any membrane inside it that needs to be addressed. Thanks

Mike Griffin just a light boil. 3-5 mins. Medium boil not rapid boil. That will cure the remaining membrane then you can pressure wash the inside of the horn. Don’t want to boil too long or too high heat because they will become fragile and soft.

Where/ what kind of mount for the wall should I use for a rams head

Alex Davenport Amazeenoutdoors.com makes a great one that I use on all my euro mounted skulls. Including this particular RAM skull.

If you only have a regular hammer, is there a way you can use it for this?
@AntlerAssassinTakovich5 жыл бұрын
Anastasija Todorov I wouldn’t recommend a regular hammer and less you have some way of wrapping the head of the hammer with a very sick rag or towel or even wrapping the horn of the ram before you give it a smack in the mallet it does keep the horn from cracking. A regular hammer could cause some damage

You shouldn’t be boiling your bones.

All of my European mounts are always boiled then pressure washed. I’ve done them this way as well as with Beatles for 20 years and both seem to be identical as far as lifespan. Just curious what your method is and why you do it that way?
