perhaps a video about improving "chess vision" would be cool. e.g seeing moves, noticing weakness, avoiding blunders. i mean maybe the answer is just 'practice and play a lot of games' but if there are any other specific tips that would be dope
@MattRowe182
@MattRowe182 3 жыл бұрын
Write down the things you need to check for (checks/mates, captures, simple threats, pins/potential pins, loose pieces, double attacks, alignment issues, trapped pieces), play slow games and before you move any piece run through the list. You'll soon be doing them without the prompt and at least from a tactical perspective you will be fine. I also find asking "what is my opponent doing" as the first thing after their move reduces your blunder count massively! If you see what your opponent is doing but mis-evaluate it, you can learn to fix that, if you miss their plans altogether you'll never improve. From an 1850 10+0 (i.e. not an expert but not an amateur).

Well now I'm starting to hear your voice in my head as I play, and it's usually something like, "Not the best move but I don't hate it", or "What is this? No human would move like that!". Seriously, you've really helped me improve enormously, and I'll know I've really improved when I start hearing your voice before I make the move.

I was familiar with a lot of these concepts already, but this was the most clear and concrete explanation of piece activity that I have ever heard. A lot of people talk about active or passive pieces in really nebulous terms assuming that it's obvious, when it's actually one of the harder concepts to grasp for new players.

For my level (1200) I would love to see a video on how you can stop yourself from making quick moves, that you immediately regret. Or a video on how you think through your move decisions. I mostly play e4 so not much experience there. For black, I suggest maybe stuff like the King's Indian Defense. Levy explained that it's one of those setups that you can play against almost anything. I have not watched the full video yet but in the first one for white kingside knight to e5 would be the best move I think

I know that you're not a bad person. But please educate your fans that any chess player will lose at some point. As we have in proverb here, "there will always be skies above skies". Means, no matter how great you are, there will always be someone greater than you. Please tell them that you are just a human. Make them understand that it's okay to lose a game. The guy who won against you got his account banned because your ultra fanatic fans reported him for "cheating". And it's not okay. I hope that this news will reach your ear and you can help him to get his account back. FYI, he's a veteran in chess, he competed in many champiships and now he's retired.

This sounds like a great idea! Very similar to the guessing subs' elo, but different in certain aspects, if you know what I mean.

That was a very nice game by Alexandra. Thanks Levy. Wouldn't have seen it and wouldn't have understood it in such an entertaining way without you.
