eBaTT - Table Tennis Tutorial - P1 April 2019 (How to execute a quality Long Push),
The Exercise:
Long Push, A relatively simple strong to execute but hard to deliver at a high level consistently. The aim is to get the stroke technically correct and impart a good amount of backspin which elevates the pressure on your opponent. The long push can be executed on any short ball especially backspin. This stroke puts your opponent under pressure; can cause them to miss or deliver a slow ball which allows you to take command over the rally.
The Aim:
1. Produce backspin and float with a similar-looking stroke,
2. Develop the correct technique (hacking motion)
3. Point of contact on the bat low to mid bat for heavy spin and high up less spin and using the correct angle
4. Timing point, when to connect with the ball in flight (in or around the peak of bounce)
How it's done:
1. Grip, the grip tightens at the point of contact this increases control.
2. Contact point, aim to hit the ball near the bottom or middle section for heavy spin and top end for less spin.
3. The technique, hacking motions, and a follow-through stroke

Very good explanation how-to. Super! Please continue to make more videos. I would like to get my feet more in motion as that is the major fault to not come into the correct position Before hitting all balls. So even doing basic foot excercises I would like to know what drills you can recommend for people Little older in the table-tennis World to start moving much more than today. I tried to do mixed 1-3 balls in bh and fh but that is not good enough. I need a dril to get hungry and feel to like move me all the time. If I donät the opponent find my pocket Place all the time :)

Hello Coach Eli. Another winner. Thanks for the interesting vid. I especially like coming from the side, something I wasn't doing. Is the long push ever an advantage over a flick, or best used as a change of pace? Thanks.

Good video I like to use a little height so the spins more affective and it more work for opponent to attack you as there less momentum ur giving your opponent.

I may be wrong but long pushes are easier to return than short ones. Check Ma Long's or Xu Xin's pushes. They are short and they always wait for their opponent to do a long push and then they loop. Even at a club I joined, kids are taught to loop anything that is long. They are taught to perfect their spinny loops
@ebatt8803
@ebatt8803 3 жыл бұрын
Collins Mwenda correct, you should aim to touch short but you can not always touch short and in that case you should be looking to push long positively. I have a video on short touches also. Regards 🏓💥

excellent, thank you, will try that further, i had a feeling that my sort of side pushes were more effective, they kind of counter incoming back spin. as for the angles, i think you were at 45 there but it depends on the pint of view. you could say 135 and it would be the same. for example: apparently, The Earth is tilted by 23.4 degrees, which means that Earth's polar axis is at a 66.6 degree angle. as you can see, you can easily mask 666 with 234 that way.

Thanks for the tips and I feel it is quite effective to put the opponent on difficult position, however if the opponent puts lots of backspin, this kind of stroke may not be that effective as it will send the ball into the net.

How do we apply this technique if ball is coming deep on our side ? Should we push or topspin is better always ?

Always try to take advantage, most of the time that means Topspin . But if you’re missing your topspin’s or your opponent doesn’t like backspin then push back

Nice tips, but I have a question: You taught us to keep the bat angle about 135 degrees, but in a real match, our opponents serving not only backspin, how to use long push again sidespin and topspin, can I use the same bat angle of 135 degrees?
@ebatt8803
@ebatt8803 3 жыл бұрын
Hiển Lê no these techniques are specific to what you’re being taught. A backspin push should not be used for a Topspin serve!
