This series of videos is the best I have seen in a long time. Just excellent instruction by this man.

This has been my favorite submission. I usually go the route of mount to technical mount then go for this submission. But getting that grip from side control seems intuitive. One question, I've been opting for putting my back leg to where my shin is across their back. I feel like is gets more leverage. What's your thoughts on that variation and is there a reason why trapping their arm instead is better/worse?

Thanks Coach Tom - Nice details - I love this choke. I don't understand what you are saying, "Practice from the belt-side roll???"

HI John, Glad you enjoy this choke. I will have to rewatch the video and find what I meant by that comment. Hope it makes sense without it! (-: Coach Tom Davey

QUESTION!!! Unfortunately I got caught in the DREADED Bow & Arrow choke, I need counters!! How do you get out?? lol!!! Thank you!! KEEP EM COMING!!!
@TheGrapplingAcademy7 жыл бұрын
I have a youtube video on this however in short: You need to push their choke hand up and duck your head out underneath. If this fails, you must break the pant grip and roll with the choke to escape. Happy choke defense! (-: Coach Tom Davey

When you step over, are they able to escape because you’ve taken some weight off of their body? Great video

Hey great video, thank you! Question though, once you have established the positions and grips to finish, you mentioned you made a ‘crunching’ motion to finish, and not to lean back. My question is once you have crunched, do you lean towards the pant grip side to finish the submission?
@TheGrapplingAcademy2 жыл бұрын
You can lean but don’t create space!

Great video as always!!! I have a question though. It is slightly off topic but how would I counter a Kimura?

I have a video on this but in general prevent it from occurring and if caught, try to either get your elbow out, straighten your arm or hold on for dear life! Happy rolling (-: Coach Tom Davey
