One thing that you forgot to mention on this video, once you activate Tivo it will take you to the Tivo Stream 4k screen, to access the Androit screen you have to press the circular bottom on your remote. It took me a while to figured that out.

I followed your instructions and was able to get my memory card formatted. I then move my TiviMate to my drive but everything I record on my TiviMate Records to the internal drive. I rechecked it the app is in the USB drive but the recordings are going through the internal drive. What am I missing or what can I do to make my recordings go to the USB drive?

Glad things are back as they should be! I'd like to learn more about memory management on my Fire Box. Every time I start it I'm told I'm running out of memory. The box keeps moving ALL my apps to the internal drive. I have put some apps like Cinema on my SD card only to see they are back on the inertial memory again... I don't have that many apps anyway so I'm frustrated...

Hi Troy. Good video. I tried to expand storage with an Aukey usb-c 4-port hub and a Samsung 64 GB flash drive. When I plugged in the hub to the TiVo usb-c port, the TiVo rebooted. Then, I plugged in the flash drive and it wasn’t recognized. I tried everything again after unplugging the TiVo and usb-c hub. How do I resolve this so my Samsung usb 3.1 flash drive appears?

Hi Troy.. I followed your video exactly to the T. Everything worked out absolutely perfect all the way until the end, where the part is in moving the apps over from internal storage, to the newly formatted USB drive. It keeps telling me, “not enough space” although it clearly shows I have over 30 GB available on the USB drive but will not allow me to transfer over any of the apps. I have the SanDisk 32 GB flash drive. And used the exact same connector you did that came with my Samsung like yours did. Pls help! What did I miss?? I never received any errors while formatting or at any other time during the process of setting it up. I can’t seem to understand what happened. Make sure your thumb drive is formatted as exFAT before you plug it into the TiVo Stream. Do _NOT_ insert an NTFS drive into it, or it will corrupt it.

I did this set up. Great job👍. The only issue I have is I have notifications telling me apps needing updating. When I try to update I get a message saying not enough memory to remove apps. All my apps are on external memory stick. Only ones I have on the main drive are the ones that came on the stick. Any solutions appreciated. 🙏

Hello @Leon Grossman no this isn't normal. It sounds like your IP address needs to be whitelisted. RD has a support form on their Website that you can use to send them a support request. Go to whatismyip.com with your VPN OFF, get your IP address, send that to them and tell them to Whitelist it. Then when you do authorize RD in your chosen app, make sure that your VPN is OFF when you authorize. Once it has authorized, you can turn your VPN back ON.

Hello I just bought the tivo stream 4k i would like to expand my storage I'm using a scan disc 128 gig and I have a scan disc 256 gig. I formatted both devices. I have a IPTV service that has a dvr builted in can this be use for this. On my FX file manager for the USB drive I'm getting a error message that says this device does not appear to support the android storage access framework. Hello @Gabriel rodriguez yes if you already have apps installed, those are located on internal storage and you will need to move those over one by one. As I state in the video, I would always place the important/resource intensive apps on internal storage. IPTV would probably be one of them but my IPTV is working fine on mine. Lastly, maybe it has to do with the drive you are using?

Hello @TC Under Settings / Device Preferences / More / Display / Screen Resolution / HDR Priority you can toggle this between Dolby Vision and HDR10. Not sure if that is what you are looking for but only item I could find in settings.

I use a different method. So simple. A USB-C/Micro SD adapter, plugs directly into the USB-C high speed port. No OTG cable needed. The adapter is about the size of a guitar pick, the Micro SD card slides into the adapter, the adapter into the C port. The adapter was like $4. I have pics on the Tivo FB group page.

@Marc Freidbery I tried larger drive but it didn't work for expanding storage. BUT, you should be able to attach a larger drive just for external storage that you can access via file manager. These are two different things. To use external storage, you don't need to expand your internal storage. Hope I'm making sense.

Put the thumb drive into a Windows PC. Ignore the 'This drive must be formatted...' warning you get. Just right-click the Computer desktop icon and choose Manage, then Disk Management. Click on the thumb drive, then delete any partitions it has (make _sure_ you've selected the thumb drive!) Now create a new partition on it using the entire thumb drive space. Now format the thumb drive using the exFAT format. Now try it in the TiVo Stream. It should format correctly now.

The Problem with Jump Drives is they have slow write speeds so you will get sluggish response from Apps especially high demand Apps that use video. Great little unit for only 25 bucks but it has it's issues, not enough to make it a deal breaker, it's much better than the Amazon Fire Stick, better remote and better performance.
