How do you export Sony VX1000 footage as 720p60 for KZbin with Adobe Premiere Pro? In this video I show you in detail exactly how I achieve this. Premiere Pro makes it easy to change your sequence settings in order to switch your standard definition footage into 60 frames per second.
Camera: Sony VX1000 (Japanese model)
Edited with: Adobe Premiere Pro version 14.0.2

Yo Chris. Hope you're good man. Just wondering, are there benefits of bringing the VX clips into an HD Anamorphic 1080 16:9 sequence, as opposed to bringing it into a Square Pixels sequence with HD 4:3 dimensions (e.g. 1080x1440)? Would this be essentially the same but 4:3 so without the black bars? Or am I missing something important that the Anamorphic HD or 16:9 sequence provides? When I do the method I mentioned, KZbin still reads it as HD but 4:3, but I'm just checking that I'm not blowing the quality somehow haha. Thanks dude!

Why not choosing square pixels though ? It would be nice to check the difference between this method, and a source format timeline upscaled during export.

Thank you! Out of curiosity, why do you switch the 29.97 footage to 59.64 if the VX shoots at 29.97? Wouldn't doubling the frame-rate give the motion a weird look?
@AlHodgson
@AlHodgson 2 жыл бұрын
For NTSC DV footage there are 59.94 (60) frames displayed as 29.97 (30) interlaced frames. So you have the choice of using either 30 or 60 for your footage.

Yes, it does and most of the time you notice it, however, some of these vx1000 videos I see somehow look flawless. I suspect they are exporting with final cut or some other software with a different interpolation method. All I know is don't use optical flow for interpolation, it gives the video artifacts where there's motion.

I've got a question for ya. I notice that a lot of HD skate videos are 30FPS like Baker 4 for example but I'm 100% certain that they shoot at 60FPS so are they editing 60 on a 60 timeline and exporting at 30? Or putting 60 on a 30 timeline? If I want my final video to be 30FPS then should I be shooting in 30 and only do 60 for clips that I want to slomo? Sorry for the long question but I'd greatly appreciate it if you could answer
@dylanwiggins839
@dylanwiggins839 2 жыл бұрын
They shoot 60 fps and then put it in a 30 timeline, so for slow mo clips the frames are there but you still get the smooth 30 otherwise

Why don't you just change the frame rate and leave the size alone? I see you changed 30 interlaced to 60p but its still SD, why bother changing it to "HD", like I doubt its creating pixels that werent there to begin with. Does it really look clearer in the end result? Isnt it still just 480 enlarged to a 720 canvas so to speak?
@AlHodgson
@AlHodgson 3 жыл бұрын
If you don't upres the footage to 'HD' (720/1080), KZbin will automatically read the upload as 480, compressing the footage and cutting the frame-rate to a maximum of 30FPS. So in order to get the visible change in framerate for KZbin, you need to increase the resolution. It also avoids KZbin's compression.

Hey, just got a VX2000 and I use the FS-100 to record my footage onto. Im using RAWDV as a format, and when i capture the footage in premiere, its 30fps. Anybody know how to capture the vx2000 at 60 like it films in?
@mysickmemepagebro3271
@mysickmemepagebro3271 2 жыл бұрын
the VX2000 films at 30fps but the frames are interlaced so there’s two images per frame, if you want to achieve 60fps you’d have to deinterlace it in post

Do you import straight from your vx or with a camcorder? I’m trying to see if another camera in necessary for importing!
@EddieGannon04
@EddieGannon04 4 жыл бұрын
It's not 100% necessary but highly recommended. If you capture or playback straight off of your vx it will wear down the heads quicker. It's better to get a cheaper camera to use for playing back and capturing that way you don't wear down the heads on your expensive vx

Hi, we have a better solution for VX footage, a platform that supports NTSC/PAL interlaced footage. Then, if you have NTSC footage, edit and export on NTSC, then upload it directly on skatehype.com has full support and goes 60fps automatically for all devices. You have to be a registered member but, no data tracking or ads on this platform, just skateboarding. Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.
