This was the best video I've seen on how to turn off the power to the doorbell. Most of the other electricians have you crawling and searching all over the house to find the transformer to cut it off. Or they tell you to cut off the power and the fuse box. Your way is much simpler by just disconnecting the power from the chime. So much easier to find and work with. Give yourself a raise, you deserve it! I'm giving you 6 stars!!!

This was an excellent tutorial! I bought a doorbell camera without realizing how extremely narrow the area where our doorbell is on the wood frame. But we have brick right next to it, so this guide is perfect.

I would drill not at this angle but angled. Then drill the wood just 'below' the open doorbell hole. Fish the wire through the 2 holes then make up the wires, and push them into the hole. Patch the wood hole with bondo, then paint to match. Finally install the camera.

The proper way would be to drill and knock out the mortar past the door frame. Then fish the wire back out from the frame in between the bricks and repoint the mortar joint with the wire in it. Patch hole in frame, paint and caulk.

Nice idea that corner drill trick, although I do have to wonder if the combining the wires might actually be better on the inside of the door therefore you could make a more flush plate over the frame and or maybe drill new holes to the inside via the brick and plate up the inside also. I wonder equally if a glued on plate would also look a bit tidy?

Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy.

Can't believe I found an actual tutorial for this!! Your camera visuals and instructions were clear and easy to understand. Hoping I can accomplish this on my own. I'm no stranger to drills but a little intimidated about drilling through the mortar. I'd also try to find a better way to hide the old hole and exposed wire as anyone with bad intentions could easily cut that wire.
