When I hold down my Power button it just takes me to the login screen. It doesn't bring up that setup Menu. Not sure why. I don't remember my password and I need to get this laptop factory reset so I can trade it in.

maybe because it’s not a lie. just because something didn’t work for you , doesn’t mean it’s a lie. in your case, you probably just have an older Mac
