Reminds me a lot of a game I had yesterday with a 3 person stalemate. I was one of two players with about 250 troops, and there was another with about 150. I ended up slow rolling against the other 250 and they got mad and blew us both up, letting the smaller player take 1st. These kinds of endgames are really the most joyless part of this game.

What I like to do in moments like at 24:00 for example is to take out Australia, and lock my stack inside AUS We now have a TOP 3 scenario with 2 equally strong opponents and me, weakened and also locked. The thing is of course I could just die there and then I get third. But what mostly happens is that the 2 remaining players see their opportunity to take out the other + 5 player and ignore me for now. Mostly this weakens them to a degree where I have enough breathing room to unlock my stack again and initiate the 1v1

I can't agree more on VC being the true form of the game integrating communication, especially with friends LOL, the amount of "I swear I won't hit you", the backstabs and coalitions and for the Diplo game *Chef's Kiss*. Few board games can replicate the right amount of saltiness to not get feelings hurt lol, unlike Monopoly. Also side note, I just realised you are a monocle and tuxedo away from being a generic cat-holding world domination villain.

I think Black should've just kept card skipping when he did so from minute 35 onwards. His best bet was to reteat back from Siam into Australia when he had 0 cards and hope you guys would fight over Asia while he still had a big enough stack and didn't present a good target.

IMO, it's not the way YOU present the games with VC that turns your viewers off, you do fantastic work! A few examples of why I personally have a hard time with those games: 1. Audio levels are inconsistent from player to player which makes it harder to listen to. 2. It's frequently difficult to keep track of who's talking and more importantly, what they're talking about. They'll reference their 2 or 3 stack instead of a specific territory, so you're not sure which stack they're referencing because you don't know which color is talking. 3. Other players are frequently difficult to understand. They don't enunciate and there's a lot of mumbling. They're nowhere near as polished as you are since they're not putting on a TV show every day! 4. When you play VC you don't talk through your thought process nearly as much. Understandable why, but your thought process is a huge part of what we're looking for! 5. Charisma. This is the most impactful reason why I sometimes skip those games. We love you. We're here because you're a charismatic guy that happens to be playing a game that we enjoy and we find interesting. Your opponents are not you and are just typically not as charismatic or interesting to listen to... i mean this with no disrespect, but again, they're not putting on a TV show every day! ❤

I can explain my problem with VC Risk. If I was playing, I'd prefer it. I'm an old guy and learned the game around a table too. However, the VC play doesn't record very well and it's harder to follow who is who if you're not in the game. Plus the players chatting make listening to your stream chat and game analysis a worse experience.

At @22:54, black has a clear path out of the australia position and doesn't take it. Do you think black didn't notice that the path was now clear through Kamchatka to NA (and from there could have positioned his stack in any bonus he wanted with ease) or just chose to turtle?

He walks on the roofs but it is never explained how he gets on the roofs, and I have never heard about or seen any illustration that the horse can actually fly. I say this as someone whom currently lives in and grew up in the Netherlands.

Hey Pete. You talked about VC being, quote on quote, the true form of the game, from the fact that you grew up sitting across the table with your friends. Although I agree to that notion that it is closer to the classic table game. My one point in the failer that VC Risk hasn't taken of amongst us watchers, is regards to the audio quality through VC. Other then that, my experience and knowledge is limited.

At the start, instead of boxing in the bot in Mexico, purple should have let it dissipate the six troops while maneuvering orange out of Greenland. Then it could take and defend kamchatka and Greenland, while u would have gladly dropped the Venezuela guard and taken Africa.

Pete, if you ever see General the Lance 114 in your Lobby, kick him out. He appears to be an experienced career Beginner. He makes no effort to try to win, or even to advance his position; he just likes to control a lot of territory, so that each round has has plenty of fresh troops to break bonuses, or hit large stacks, just to make them smaller. After a full game as one's personal troll, the c-sucker has the audacity to send me a Friend request! The only way to deal with a guy like that is to not re-establish bonuses for a while, so he'll direct him rampage at someone else.

Hey Pete, keep hearing you say you "fail" to show the strategy and/or fun side of VC. I think it just doesnt translate well to a YT video. Cant really monitor and control the quality of voice from other players and, especially, if someone is watching for the "you" content. I do, very much, enjoy your analysis games where you chat about the strategy of the VC and how you utilize it. But I have a hard time watching the games, themselves, because of the other voices. Dont think you are failing at it ❤ maybe we are just use to your one sided voice convo with chat 😉
