I'm glad you mentioned about the hacking to get bits to do stuff. Other vocal coaches are just like "Relax your vocal folds and engage your false chords". Well, I know they are there, also I know I have a pancreas but f'd if I know what to do if you told me to wiggle that.

exaaaaaactly it’s not wired through direct commands so we have to do it differently - glad to be of help!

this is not the easiest thing for me but I’m trying. I have a very low singing voice for a woman, so because you also do I find your videos more helpful than other channels.

Mary, I have two things to say: thank you, and congratulations. I am an instrumental music educator, and thoroughly enjoy studying philosophy of teaching and pedagogy. I have been a hobby vocalist since middle school and always enjoyed exploring extended techniques and harsh vocals. You have provided a wealth of knowledge and resources to me for over six years and I am so grateful. Moreover, watching you refine the quality of your presentations and continue to refine your pedagogical methods has been very enjoyable and useful for me to see as a fellow teacher. Outstanding work!

Also, I notice the break in your eyebrow isn't present recently! Have you decided to cover up the scar, or are these recorded from an earlier time? I kinda missed seeing it when I opened the video, I thought it was so pretty haha!

Wow thank you so much Devon! Your kind words really mean a lot to me and I’m so glad everything has been helpful for you!! Re: eyebrow status 😆the scar is still there for sure but I had my eyebrows tattooed on about a year ago and I had her tattoo over the scar - she kind of wanted to leave it hahaha but I just had her go over it. In general the color is now even with the rest of my skin tone so on camera it’s not so visible anymore but in person you can still see it 🤘

Great video! I remember watching one of your videos a few years ago and you used the analogy of "The exasperated teenager" and that alone made screaming click for me. Love your stuff.

I can't believe I did it!!! I just unlocked my false folds fonations, I've been dreaming about false cord screams since 2020! It's been 3 day since I started doing these "Nahhhhhh" sounds. Now I'm wondering how long will it take to make the most disgusting guttural sounds like deathcore vocalists. I'm already love how I sound!

Very helpful, thank you! Is there a simple way to safely distinguish the false chord from 'cookie monster' vocals? (to avoid doing the latter) They sound vaguely similar, particularly at the end when you did the ABCD part

Awesome, Lady Z! My problem is throat going dry from the amount of air pushing through when doing the sighs, I get a good sound, and no hoarseness but I just go dry...which of course in the long run would lead to pain unless I hydrate :D Am I pushing too much air or is there a trick to it or just training?
@voicehacks
@voicehacks Жыл бұрын
You are doing it right! Dryness is a major side effect of doing it right. You’re blowing a lot more air across the mucus membranes and you will fry out faster! Inhaling moisture is the best way to combat this. I use a cool mist humidifier and a hand-held cool mist nebulizer a lot

i kinda got the screaming first time with this video, but my voice feels so fucked now. You mentioned that its good when you feel that your voice is getting scatchy. is it normal in the beginning that i cant do it like more than 5-6 times until i feel like i have to puke or caugh? Maybe i did it wrong entirely. like can i actually train my voice to get more used to this vibration?
@voicehacks
@voicehacks 13 күн бұрын
I’m so sorry to hear things are not going well at the moment! Definitely stop making these sounds for awhile, rest and take some time off. This is why I’m still a full-time vocal coach with lessons because if there is something that’s going wrong I can hear it and check it out in lessons. But just realize some of these sounds can’t entirely be self taught and there is a barrier to using videos for a lot of people. If the issues continue then it would probably be best to pursue a vocal coach that teaches these techniques for lessons. In answer to your questions about getting used to the vibrations, yes! I’ve been making these sounds over 20 years now.

The szzz exercise is weird. I take my arms from behind to forward (not up), because i better manage to do the exercise when putting my voice back and forward, not up ( i feel like a wall on the top of my mouth when singing high pitches).

does it kind of block out the sound a bit if you go under the duvet? lol even when no one is home i’m still scared about the neighbours hearing XD. these videos are really helpful and i think i’m making progress. your very detailed and make it understandable so thank you so much ❤ it’s actually really fun

This is amazing. Thanks! It’s funny how tiring these are in the beginning. Would you say blowing into a balloon as an exercise is good for expanding lung capacity?
@voicehacks
@voicehacks Жыл бұрын
Sure! But that’s really only going to help with long extended exhales so for working on the type of inhale and exhale for this particular sound you could try more of this style of exercise: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWbGlWd5aZWGiKc
