Hi Jami and Zeb - I just love you guys! A lot of times I watch you guys bcuz of the silly banter you share ☺️ Bcuz of you, I chalk painted an ugly old dresser that I was going to throw out and I transformed it into something beautiful PLUS I chalk painted a super ugly wide wood frame that had a gorgeous painting behind it and my friends and family are in love with them both 😊 QUESTION, why is it that milk paint chips a lot sometimes and other times it chips a little? I noticed on this project that it was a little, which is what I prefer. Thank you ahead of time for your answer.

Sometimes we use extra bond and it helps the milk paint not chip as much. Sometimes I don’t use it at all. And sometimes I just use a little. We used the recommended amount on this piece. ❤️❤️

I love it! Beautiful as usual! I cannot wait for the video on fixing drawers because I have to dressers from early 1900s and the dovetail broke on a couple of the drawers so some idiot took a bunch of nails and tried to nail it all together and it is a hot mess and I don't even want to start on the peace until I can fix the drawer because it's such a beautiful piece and I know nothing about drawer repair.

Will a sample size of milk paint cover a whole dresser ?? Really looking to DIY my dresser and I love this paint
@JamiRayVintage
@JamiRayVintage 4 жыл бұрын
A sample size usually covers a small night stand or end table. For a dresser I would recommend at least a pint but a depending on the size of the dresser a quart would be the safest bet. The nice thing about milk paint is you can only mix up as much as you need and save the rest for another project if you don’t need it all.

Hi ...me again! So happy I caught this video I have a really heavy nice 2 tier cherry end table ...this piece I would like to keep...the top had a milky look to it..I cleaned and hubby suggested enamel reducer ( I have mentioned before ...he owns a auto body shop) we can’t figure out what’s on it...scratches appeared after enamel reducer so I was going to sand and hope to just clear coat..and if that doesn’t look feasible I will paint top ...my paint is ordered (from you) I put piece away and told hubby going to wait for the good stuff to arrive...any idea what it could be on top of this thing? It was enough to hide scratches and milky white looking on top of cherry wood finish....I bought at Goodwill for $20 bucks...I like the way you kept the stain look on top of this dresser...I can’t remember if I ordered oil...anything else I can use instead...? Thank you as always I am grateful for your help! Love the dresser!

The dark oil wax works like a light, wipeable glaze and sealer in one. Not sure what you could replace it with. It’s kind of unique. You may have to sand whatever finish is on the top off to get rid of the milky look.
@erinnieves2256
@erinnieves2256 6 жыл бұрын
Can you use real stains over already painted surfaces or do you have to sand it to raw wood. I'm wanting to darken a bedframe and then do a white chippy finish on top. The bedframe is hand made and you can still feel the wood texture through the paint.
@JamiRayVintage
@JamiRayVintage 6 жыл бұрын
It’s water based so it won’t absorb unless it’s on raw wood. This is how I get around pieces that are already painted that I want a two tone look on. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4Okfauugdd7fLM

Hi guys! That turned out soooo great! I’ve really been wanting to try the oil wax. Does this last as long as a poly? If I sell a piece I just want to be sure the customer won’t have to do much “upkeep”. It just looks sooooo easy to apply which is a huge selling point for me as poly is tougher to get right. Question 2: I did my coffee table with poly satin and I am not sure if it was because of the stain color that I used or not but, it almost looks plasticy. Can you apply a matte poly over satin? Ohhh, and can’t wait for the drawer repair video. I’m working on an older buffet right now and the drawers lean towards the ground when you pull them out. My problem is the drawers sliders are hand made it looks like and there isn’t a bracket holding them together. I just wonder if I have the ability to fix it or just sell as is. ....whoa! Sorry for the loooong comment! Thx for all you both do!!
@JamiRayVintage
@JamiRayVintage 6 жыл бұрын
I’ll make sure Zeb see’s this and see if he can address the issue. Oil wax is very durable. 2-3 coats and it can actually be buffed to a high sheen if you want to take it that far. Matte poly should work on your piece to make it look less like plastic. Be careful not to build it up too thick though. That will add to the plastic effect (polyacrylic is basically liquid plastic)

What is the difference between the real stain #1 & #5? Is one darker than the other? Is real stain #2 more of a gray? Are 3 & 4 both redfish? Does the Real stain go on sale? Heck should titled this “All my questions about real stain” lol

Lol. 1 is more black and 5 is more brown. 2 leans gray/brown. 3 is a light brown. 4 is definitely red. I had a sale on Real Stain back in April. Don’t know when the manufacturer is doing another sale.
