@DaniCat99 Жыл бұрын
@@ethancolmancomposer they usually live a week or two, sometimes longer. I had one survive over a month. The ones that overwinter as pupae seem to really thrive and live long. Virgin individuals also live longer. I was able to breed them last year which was so exciting :)

Bart, I'm in Atlanta Ga I started a native plant garden just for butterflies this is my first year and my fall nectar source is slim pickings right now and I have about 20 Gulf Fritillary caterpillars that will need a nectar source once they emerge. Should I have a honey nectar source available to them until they are able to fly and search on their own?
@BartCoppens5 жыл бұрын
You can release them immediately. After hatching from their pupae butterflies do not need to eat for the first few days.

Hi Bart, I have a Red Admiral butterfly at home with an injured wing joint. She seems active and ok otherwise, but in the past few days I noticed the edges of her wings are losing the dark brown coloring on the bottom side. The top side of the wings in the same place are still brightly colored, the color loss is only on the bottom side. Do you have any explanation of this and what I can do about it? Cheers
