It was mentioned by a viewer (Thank you, Pam!) that she usually takes 1-2 hours to felt a knitted item. I want to mention that it depends on what wool you are using. Also, the size of the project, yarn weight, and water temperature. I also think it depends on how much force you apply while rolling. It would be a good idea to have enough time for this process in case it takes much longer. Just like every knitter knits differently, anything done by hand and different materials can turn out differently for each individual. That's why handmade items are special and unique. I hope you will still find this video helpful 😊 Please share how your felting experience turned out ❤👇

Is there another way to start this cozy… I’m having a hard time starting
@PalmeriKnits Жыл бұрын
Hi Phyllis, I’m glad to hear that you are trying this pattern. And sorry you are having a hard time 😔 Is it the method you are having a hard time with? Or because how less the stitches are to start with?

It’s a shame all these felting videos say you can felt to no stitch definition in 15-30 minutes. This is NOT TRUE! It will take you 1-2 hours.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience has been different. I made many koozies for my shop during the holiday season. It only took me about a max of 15 min. Otherwise, I couldn't have kept it as a product. I believe it also depends on what yarn, weight, and size of the project you are working on. This is a fairly small project, so I think it was one of the reasons I could felt it quickly. I also discovered that the yarn I use for felting (Wool of the Andes from knit pick) felt really quick compared to patons classic wool yarn. Anyway, I appreciate you pointing out and sharing your experience. I will mention it on top of the comment and the descriptions for other viewers. It might also be fun to make a video of "which yarn would felt fast". Here is another video idea! 😊 Thank you Pam❤

How much will the shrinkage be? Ie, if I want to do a hat, do I just make hat using a regular pattern or do I make it bigger, or are there special patters for felted items? Tyvm❤
@PalmeriKnits11 ай бұрын
@@deborahkelley651 You need to make it much bigger since it will shrink and get very dense. I won't be able to tell you the exact shrinkage rate because it really depends on the yarn you are using. The best way to tell is to make a sample swatch and measure before and after wet felting. So you can tell how many stitches/rows will create the width/length you are aiming for. There are many felting patterns available for both knitting and crocheting on Ravelry. Search "felting" under "pattern" then filter by craft type (knit or crochet). Hope it helps 🙂
