I wish they showed even a semblance of this when I was attending bujinkan. I actually dig what I'm seeing. I don't think what you were taught was bad but I definitely think it works as something that isn't used super often as it's easy to see set up. But I like that you tried to make it work with the time you gave yourself. Lee's hand behind the back is definitely rule of cool 😆

I wasn't physically active at all until I got into martial arts as a late teenager. So when I finally got into JKD, wing chun, silek harimau, etc, I was at a severe disadvantage with my poor cardio and lack of flexibility. But like Rock Lee and you, through sheer passion and hard work, I've managed to overcome some of my hindrances and use some others to my advantage. I can kick higher and fight longer, but I can also use my size to my advantage when grappling or throwing my weight into a strike. Hard work and discipline will always outlast raw talent; it's a really inspiring mantra.

Love this kind of video! Never cared for Naruto but always loved Rock Lee. I think you shortchanged the willpower aspect of Rock's training. Also, follow up video on drunken boxing please!

I'm a little disappointed you left out the level change to squatting side kick launcher into a juggle before ending with the air throw into stun. I know it's hit confirm but you do about 30% from neutral and it builds a lot of bar. Seriously, though, Rock Lee was always my favorite character in Naruto (tied with Choji cause I'm fat) and seeing him brought to life is simultaneously deeply surreal and oddly comforting. Like child me is at peace knowing there's a video tutorial on how to fight like Rock Lee. This video rips.

Leaf hurricane always seemed more like a sideways axe kick from the "dragon tail" set up (its a wushu move, ironically used by the character king from tekken who is a Lutchador). Also: Rock Lee does look more like a mix of modern sports savate and muay boran tbh....
