If my wife and I filed "Married Filing Jointly" would I check "Individual" under line 7 for Type of Return?

Yes, the 1040 is considered an individual tax return.

If the IRS didn't send it to you pre-filled you won't fill that part out.

Hi - I never received my deceased Aunt's refund check - can I send form 3911 and 1310, Statement of Person Claiming Refund Due to a Deceased Taxpayer, to the same address? It looks like the address is different for these 2 forms. Thanks.

My condolences to you and your family. They don't go to the same address. I would do Form 1310 because that is the request for the check to be reissued.

Hi Timalyn your videos was very helpful for me thank you so much. Can you please tell me in line 7 for the bank information when I filled my taxes I had a different bank I have to put my old bank info or my current?

Hello, I am the administer of my aunts estate. The IRS finally reissued the check to the estate on Oct. 23rd but I have still not received it. Would I need to put my aunt information in the second part of the form 3911? Thank you!

I am so sorry to hear about your delay. You may do better calling because you aren't the actual taxpayer and now there is an estate which makes things a bit more complex.

My wife did an aduit and on her transcript it's supposed to be a 9,100,000.00 or 9.1 million sent in a paper check from form 8888. She never received the check. I would love to have a conversation about this if at possible

You can confirm it was received if you sent it certified. The most recent one I did for a client took about 29 days from the day I mailed it until they received their refund.

If one does not remember the "Date Filed" in line 7, what should one write there? I only remember the month and year I probably filed. Please help 🙏🏻

You can get the date from your account or return transcript online.

I received the first stimulus check. never cashed it and it expired. i filled out a recovery rebate credit for it (which the irs told me i shouldnt have). The lady on the phone told me to fill out this form and fax it. Does that sound right to you? am i still eligble? should i select the "lost" box in my case?

😭 is it possible they already received the refund? There's no way (other than court) to make them sign it.

Hi. Thanx for info. I filled one out over 60 days ago. FInally got a rep on the line and they say they never seen it. Told me they wld turn one in for me themselves. Now they hang up when my number calls. Any advice??

It's a rough time to have to do phone communication with the IRS. When you mailed it did you send it certified? If not that's my recommendation so you have proof that you sent it.

Hello I am filling this out for a letter I got saying they issues a check to me by accident, but I never received the check. The letter says the tax period is from Dec. 31, 2022. Does this mean I filled the tax in 2021 or 2022?

If the tax period was 2022 it was filed in 2023.

I been waiting on a tax return since 2021 for my father who had passed away I was told I would get a check but never received it.. I want to fill this out but would I put in his name or mine.. Also I am the beneficiary

The tax refund for tax year 2021 or the tax refund for 2020 that was filed in 2021? The refund statute expiration date (RSED) has expired. You only have 2 years to claim a refund.
