It depends where you're currently a resident. In some countries, you can apply with the embassy. Whereas in other countries, you'll have to apply via an application center (VFS, BLS, or VIA)

Hi! Indicate the date when your biometric was taken. For the biometric number, you'll have to leave to either write "not applicable" or leave it blank (if you cannot write N/A). The embassy would be able to check and see your refused visa from your previous application even if it was from a different country.

You'll have to fill out a different form, the National Visa/Long Stay Visa Form. Also, you must first have an approved work permit in most Schengen countries. Once you get the work permit and the embassy has given you a visa D, you'll have to report to the migration office to "convert" your Visa D to a residence permit. Looking at the long stay visa form of France, there's no question about the number of entries.

The answer to this question might come late but I want to ask anyway. Maybe it can be helpful for others. What to write when you are going to stay in many places and the rectangle of the form is too small to write everything? Obviously, print all the receipts and all the information and even write a document apart with all this information, but I wonder what to do with that rectangle, just write 1 address and clarify to the workers that there are more addresses and they must check the other papers? This situation happens when you are going to visit different cities.

You simply write the first accommodation where you'll be staying. Then, for the other accommodations "all other accommodations are on a separate sheet" or "please see attached accommodation confirmation for the full list of booked accommodations."

That is alright as you can tick off both visit and tourism. Make sure to explain in further detail about your visa purpose in question #24

Does India have a unique national ID? I've been reading about the Aadhar Card but some say that it isn't a national ID. You can ask the VFS personnel on your appointment date just to be sure.

In section 20, if you are currently residing in the US as a student do you put in the visa you have there? What about if you have let say a Canadian visitor's visa in your passport? Which do you put there?

If you are a student abroad, add the current visa details that allows you to stay abroad. A visitor visa will not count as a Residence document

Hi Miss Raine, I'm just curious, how come in Field or Question number 3 of the application which the Given names, aren't we including our middle name for that question?

Nope, just the given name (your first and other names, if you have any). The concept of the "middle name" for those in the Schengen Area is different from the concept of middle names that Asians have (mom's maiden name). For those in Europe (mostly), a middle name would be their second given name.

I have been to Europe on a transit visa when I was still a seafarer back in 2004. I was issued that transit visa in Antwerp, Belgium but I can't find that old passport of mine where that transit visa sticker was placed but I can still remember that date it was issued but don't know the sticker number anymore. Do I still have to tick "Yes" to that question, please help me what to do?

@@artlaurent Tick yes and indicate the year. Since that was ages ago, they won't be able to find it in their system as they only keep data for 5 years unless there was a warning from the Schengen Information System about the person

Hi Mei! If you are self-employed, technically, you do not have any employer, especially if you own a business. This is just my assumption though as I do not have any firsthand experience filling in an application form as a self-employed individual. Here's a suggestion: If you are going to submit your application with VFS soon, you can print out 2 copies of the specific page and fill in one copy with the business name and address of your small business and the other one without it. Don't forget to ask clarification from the VFS personnel as they will guide you with that.
