I don’t understand the purpose of this facility at all. If you run 5500 a week worth of recycling centers you would have triple the capacity. I’ve always found the waste processing complex to be terrible outside of aesthetic reasons and the lower noise!polution as compared to the recycling centers. I think they should have given this thing double or triple it’s processing capacity 190 000 is just too low for the price/size
@Kristofburger3 жыл бұрын
@@Stealthymist It equals to exactly four incinerators in terms of processing rate with a slightly lower upkeep cost, and it has a huge 10 million unit garbage reserve. It also produces raw materials from the waste like the recycling center from Green Cities. Recycling centers might be better overall, but keep in mind they had to develop expansion packs so there are no cross-dependencies. I think they're a better option than just having incinerators dotted around the map.

Watching Biffa place "transfer" stations in the hope they'd affect "processing" capacity brings to mind the definition of insanity.
@peewypeabody42843 жыл бұрын
Heya Biffa! What's a little weird is, that the recyling center shows the capacity _per week_ whereas the waste transfer facility only shows a capacity. Could it be that the Waste _Transfer_ Facilities don't count towards your Garbage Process Capacity, but only the Waste _Processing_ Plant does? I suspect that the transfer facilities just add additional trucks that collect the garbage around your city, but only the big processing plant actually does away with the garbage.
@oscarmancio23503 жыл бұрын
Yeah, transfer facilities only increase the “landfill storage”, but not the processing. In order to get the latter up you need more processing facilities, so you’re cprrect

The Waste Transfer Facility only holds the garbage until it can be sent to a Waste Processing Complex to get rid of the waste which will produce a lot of pollution. This is for much larger cities where you don't want too much pollution and you want all the trash to be exported somewhere else where all the pollution will be. So to recap, make an area for pollution and place the process complex with the transfer leading to it.
@crzy1gs3 жыл бұрын
Biffa - the waste 'transfer' facilities do not process any trash, they only transfer it to the main complex, or incinerators etc. That is why your processing capacity went down when replacing recycling centers with them.

@HeyLookItsHelen3 жыл бұрын
As everyone else says you need another waste processing plant to increase capacity. But I also don’t think they’re actually a greener alternative than recycling centers. While the transfer ones don’t pollute (so they can go right in your residential zones for coverage), the big processing plants produce a TON of pollution, and the frequent trucks between the transfer and processing units adds traffic. Recycling pollutes a little but they also produce raw goods for your industry so you don’t have to import as much. On that note, general industry produce goods that commercial zones need. If you get rid of all of your general industry then the shops will have to import everything. I know gas isn’t really a concern in game but irl all that cross country industrial truck traffic has a big environmental impact.

Ironically enough, I work in the waste industry and own a Junk Removal business. I visit a Waste Transfer Facility multiple times per day. Your issue you're having is that the Waste Transfer Facilities are a drop off point for the Trash trucks that do the actual trash collection house by house. Trucks come there, drop off the trash, which is then loaded into Waste Transfer Semi-Trucks, and sent to the larger Waste Processing Facility to be actually disposed of. The actual Transfer facilities do not add to the overall processing capacity, just makes it easier to provide trash coverage for the city on a whole. Definitely recommend adding an additional Waste Processing Complex somewhere on the opposite side of the other one. You can then probably reduce your budget down significantly as well.

Biffa, the transfer facilities do not contribute to the trash processing capacity. They are like an auto-emptying landfill that temporarily stores trash until there is enough to process, then it sends trucks to the processing complex. So the capacity on the transfer facilities is technically landfill capacity that will get emptied.

Biffa, you don't need a wind turbine to connect the island , just have one or two either type to power the island. or perhaps put them right there at the water's edge to jump the power if you want to. there is some nice empty areas there at the main road on the prison side. on the park around city hall, why not just make it free? then its not a big deal about the gates and fences and such. that will then let you expand across the entire 'triangle'.

I think it was referring to the waste processing. So the waste transfer facility helps in terms of collecting it and taking it to the processing plant, but it doesn't actually process the garbage. With the tram lines you added in the last episode, I feel like the purple line (#4 if I'm looking at it right) is/was the same as the green line (#1) going from the hub to the power/heating/industry area, when I think it should be that the green line goes back and forth between the university area and initial starting area as a sort of cut through between the two main residential zones (if sims want to go from one area to another), and line 4 should just service the forestry area and the residential area near it. That could cut down on the amount of trams traveling on the same line/track, and have less trams bunching up in the hub area. Have each line service its own area, with another line or two connecting them all together/as a way to transfer between areas.
