Hi Dave re those bags for the vacuum sealers,I have a foodsaver vacuum sealer and big w charges the earth for the bags,but I can pick up 2 x 6 meter rolls on ebay for around the 14 dollar mark,from Australia,great value.Definitely vacuum sealing is the way to go.

Top job David. I don't bleed mine but will try in the future. I don't fillet them either, just cook the fish whole. Good idea to fillet them and I will in the future as well to see what difference it makes. Will get a Cryovac sealer machine as they are good. one of my mates sealled a heap for me when I went fishing with him at Batemans bay. they are excellent.
@davidsheldonfishing97266 жыл бұрын
Gday Cliff yes mate good idea to bleed your salmon small and large, they taste better and freeze better. and them Cryovac machines do work a treat. filleting fish is a good option and great for kids, but Marco Pierre White says they taste better on the bone hmm he may be right. Thanks for the comment mate.

Hi David I enjoy watching all your videos! How long can you keep fish in your vac sealed bags for in the freezer?
@davidsheldonfishing97265 жыл бұрын
Hi Timothy. Thank you and glad you enjoy my videos it means a lot. I haven't actually tryed to see how long the fish last for in the freezer vac sealed, I do know it lasts a lot longer than in a freezer bag. Also fish like salmon, snook, Tommy ruff, mullet and other oily fish taste far better vac sealed than frozen in a freezer bag. On Google some people say 6 months some say a year some say 2 years, so I will say a long time. All the best....David

Hi David, I really enjoy your videos! You keep it nice and simple. I’ve been catching some larger Salmon around the 2kg mark but I think I’d rather catch the smaller ones as per your video. I’m sure they’d be much nicer to eat! I noticed that the vacuum sealers you own are both Sunbeam. Have you had them for a long time and would you recommend the brand? After watching your vid I’m convinced on buying one. Dave here also by the way! Cheers.
@davidsheldonfishing97265 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave, sorry late reply mate. yes I will give sunbeam a thumbs up they have done very well with no problems. We use them for vacuum sealing maggots, hundreds of packets and they sometimes overheat on hot days but never have broken down. Vacuum sealing fish is the only way to go. Cheers David. P.S the big salmon make yummy fish cakes.
@069vass5 жыл бұрын
David Sheldon Fishing Thanks for replying David! I ended buying a Sunbeam with the auto settings. I’ve used it only once to vacuum seal some steak...so far so good:) I’ll definitely look on Ebay for some cheaper bags. I haven’t attempted making fish cakes with the Salmon but my wife makes yummy spring rolls with them which is probably the only way I enjoy eating them hahaha.
