On this channel, I record performances in bars. Lighting is crazy, usually too red, or changing. I was going nuts with color until 1) someone said stick to 5100K and 2) Premier Pro started auto color correcting SLOG3

Thanks for the great video! I have my own band and I need to make a good promo for our band. However, I have never done this before. What cameras and software would you recommend for starting out? Right now, all I have is an iPhone 11! LOL

Easier way is to team up with some filmmakers or videographers and they can take care of the camera and editing side of things. Depends who you get and what level of quality work you want, but they might do it volunteer for their show reel (student or beginner level) , or you mind have to give them some cash for a more professional job.

Thank you for the break down. Very useful for someone starting out, like me. What would you suggest for good audio with the video- would something like the wireless go 2 work by capturing audio from two angles? Do you always have access to a mix from the sound board? I'm not sure that's always being recorded

Yeah unfortunately audio isn't always available from the sound board, but I think two separate sources from your cameras would be ok. Especially if it's an external source, and not the in-camera mics - which can be hard to balance etc

Very cool video! Any insight on color correction/grading for videos? When lighting is changing often, this is something that can bog down my work flow, so would love to hear your opinion!

Thank you. I can't offer much insight into colour correction, as it's probably one of my major weaknesses in video production. I just use lumetri correction in Premiere, and make adjustments accordingly. Anything higher-end I hire a pro haha!

Don't know about settings for DVD, I've only ever prepared for online delivery. We shot these at 25 frames and delivered as 1080 H264 files.

As I said in the video, I can't give much advice about audio, but in my early days a used a rode mic mounted to the top of DSLR that fed directly into my camera. I've also used a H6 Zoom recorder as a separate audio feed which worked quite well as I could control the levels better.
