Hey Andrei! I know this video is about a year old but I just found it and it's super informative. I have the exact same setup but do mostly events, I'm slowly getting into real estate. I have one question: how do you manage the 1.7x crop on the 5D MKIV for your shoots? I'll get an R6 soon for the (almost) no crop in 4K and great low light capabilities. Thanks for your tips mate, appreciate it! Cheers from France
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo Жыл бұрын
Hey man! Thanks so much, really appreciate it. Easy - I never shot in 4K on that camera. 😆 All video including real estate video was in 1080p! Even now having the R6, I shoot in 1080p and 4K depending on the shoot. Plus, the 1080p in the R6 is way sharper/more detailed than the 5d and you have 10 bit log profiles. Thanks for watching!

Hey man! Thanks so much, glad you found it valuable! I have come really close sometimes, typically it's not an issue at all. I definitely recommend the r6 ii if you don't have an R6 already. Thanks for watching!

Hi love the video! So I have a canon r6 and have log. Don’t understand it but you mentioned that the end it’s better. You said you use HDR mode so is that the same?
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo Жыл бұрын
Hey Sherina! Great question, no so both are different! Log Profiles are flatter color profiles that capture more dynamic range + color information. Requires a bit of knowledge on color grading and editing, but the result is better. HDR mode captures a little more dynamic range but already puts the color in for you so you can’t really adjust in it in editing. Here’s two other videos where I go in depth in real estate videos and color grading! For shooting in LOG: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5jNkmOja7-Ke7c For color grading: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3fKh2V4rNGJqqs Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have any questions !

Hey Josie! Glad you’re finding the videos helpful. No, you won’t get the full view since your camera has a crop sensor. For your camera you want a 10 or 11mm. I’d recommend these: Canon 10-18mm - amzn.to/3qMtPaZ Tamron 10-24mm - amzn.to/3rzXWBM

@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan! Thanks for the feedback! Yes, getting the correct exposure when shooting real estate is tricky due to all the mixed lighting. My go to is using the histogram to make sure everything is exposed properly. Shooting in HDR mode on the 5d4 helps a lot to retain the window detail. I shoot on an R6 now and the clog3 and the dynamic range is so nice for real estate. Thanks for watching and let me know if you have any questions!

@@AndreiRestrepo thanks for great reply. Will try hdr mode later today. How do you find the R6 for video quality and photos quality compared to 5D? I'm thinking of upgrading but it's expensive he in NZ. Have also been thinking of changing to Sony but it's hard and expensive changing brands
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
To me, the R6 to the 5D4 is an upgrade in every way! Way better AF, WAY BETTER low light performance (great for RE), smaller body, full frame 4k video, 20mp photos look really good, like I can’t tell a difference really from the 5D. Tried out Sony, didn’t like it, really happy with canon. Obviously note that their are video limitations if you shoot in 4k for expensive times, but never has affected my workflow!

Appreciate it josh ! Well honestly, because I don’t walk slow enough most of the time, the 80% slow motion from 30 fps to 24 fps usually does the trick haha. Almost like a safety net. if you have been asked to shoot REV vertically for Instagram what way will you be shooting horizontally then crop or vertically. I have a tokina 12-24 f4 with canon 60d I will be doing my first video soon I will be shooting with 24 fps 50 shutter for both 50mm and 12-24mm. 1st photoshoot was success client loved it again I have the same question do we have to use VND filter to avoid harsh light outside window or normal polariser should be used to create video for indoor interior.
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo Жыл бұрын
Hey! As of now, my business normally gets booked for a regular listing video, and we offer a vertical edit as an add on. So we take the horizontal footage and reformat it vertically. We don’t always just crop in, sometimes I will make it more interesting by stacking 3 horizontal shots in one vertical section to view all of them at once. For real estate, I use a polarizer inside & outside. Even if I have to bump up my shutter outside, nothing is moving in the frame aside from maybe leaves or trees, so I’m okay to break the shutter rule. If I’m filing an agent talking outside, definitely switch to a VND and use the proper shutter. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Do you use your CPL (polarising filter) when you shoot videos, or just for the still images?
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo Жыл бұрын
Hey! Yes, I use a CPL for both re photo & video. I didn’t before all the time simply because my old camera didn’t have the best low light performance, and a CPL darkens your image by a stop or so. But using one makes a big difference and makes your videos look more higher end not having those blown out floors. Thanks for watching!

What’s your tips for video a dark spac
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 5 ай бұрын
Always tough! Use a faster lens like f/2.8, switch from 60 or 30fps to 24fps so my shutter is 1/50 letting in more light, and take off my circular polarizer filter since that darkens the image. I shoot in 10 bit log profiles now on my canon r6 mark ii, so I overexpose the dark room to bring exposure down in editing and make it not as noisy. Thanks for watching!

These are fantastic tips, but a quick question for you - why not shoot interior at 60fps also? Why 30? Thank you!
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Randy! Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed it! For sure - so if I shoot the interior at 60 frames per second, I have to bump up my shutter to 1/125, versus filming in 30 fra for second I can have it at 1/60. Honestly makes a pretty big difference in darker homes/rooms. Plus for the most part I’m already walking really slow, so filming at 60 frames would just make it too slow, so 30 frames is the sweet spot because I can still slow down by 80%. Hope this helps, thanks for watching!

Looks like you shoot Canon. What are your thoughts on that new RF 14-35 f/4 vs the 15-35 f/2.8?
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
I sure do mike! Currently shooting with the EF 16-35 F4 IS L, great lens! I’ve used the 15-35 for a few shoots, obviously incredible lens BUT.. I definitely think the 14-35 would be the better choice for real estate. Smaller, wider, better IS, and probably sharper than my version. Don’t really need the 2.8 for real estate, even for video f/4 is good. I have my eyes on the 14-35! Thanks for watching!

@@AndreiRestrepo Sounds like we’re on the same page! I bought the 15-35 last week but returned it as soon as I found out about the 14-35 coming out end of August. It’s crazy how many people are crapping on it because it’s f/4, but that lens is super compact, extra mm on the wide end and normal 77mm filters. It sounds like it will be an amazing lens to me.
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikebanks4796 yes the 77mm filter size is another big perk I forget to mention! All of my filters are 77mm, definitely would not like to re-buy them. The 2.8 would definitely be nice, especially for other types of photo/video but if we’re talking specifically real estate, 14-35 would be the right move. I need to look into possibly upgrading it soon!

@@AndreiRestrepofirst of all what a great channel!! I understand this video is 2 years old but I am thinking of starting addond video to RE photography. Ive got eos r so it will be 1080 due to 4k crop. So should get similar results what you had 2 years ago on this video with your set up. I have RF 14-35MM F4. Noticed however you are now using 15-35 f2.8. Woulf you not recommend 14-35mm F4 for video. Would. It still be OK for lime those lifestyle shots or that where 2.8 shines? Many thank and keep doing amazing ut work please :)

Andrei. Great video for beginners, but you really need to keep you verticals straight. I think what you're doing is trying to have less ceiling but the essence of good architectural "anything" is straight verticals and perfect "one point/straight on" compositions.
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gregory, thanks for watching and for the feedback! Confused though, where in here did I feature slanted/skewed verticals? I mentioned that as one of my points to keep your vertical lines straight and not skewed so need a little clarification on that. And as much as I love straight on shots, realtors constantly want corner/additional angles, and actually prefer them most of the time over straight on in my experience.
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Gregory, sorry I thought your comment was on my Real Estate Photography Video, haha my bad! Totally agree, I feel like it's one of those "know the rules, to break the rules" situation. Every real estate photo I take keeps verticals levels. And when it comes to video, I think a little more creativity can be used. I think utilizing certain gimbal movements can enhance the visual of the architecture like panning up for a big ceiling even though it's breaking the vertical rules. But definitely appreciate your feedback, thanks for watching!

Are you still using 5d4 to film real estate?
@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
Actually no! I invested in a Canon R6 back in March of last year, really nice upgrade especially in the video dept! CLOG3 for my dynamic range, way sharper sensor, 4k uncropped, 10bit color, near perfect aside from the recording limitations from overheating after awhile. But honestly, the 5D did a pretty great job, still would be perfectly fine for this, or an EOS R. Thanks for watching!

I haven’t used a 5d3, but if it can do 1080p 24, 30, & 60 fps, you should be good! Especially because you don’t necessarily need continuous AF since you want everything I’m focus for the most part.

@AndreiRestrepo
@AndreiRestrepo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Bobby! Exactly. Having your shutter bump from 1/60 (30fps) to 1/125 is pretty much double your ISO! So when you're in a dark home already, it could be the difference between iso 1600 or 3200, 4000 or something. And here's another big one - sometimes, or a lot of the times, these homes have cheap lighting. So the higher the shutter, the more banding/weird flickering you'll see on your footage. If I could walk perfectly slow enough, I'd even shoot at 24fps and have my shutter at 1/50 for the lowest iso. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
