@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thanks for the great video. do you find 2-5 stops ND is enough for most situations? also with regards to music, Epidemic allows you keep using music for all videos published while you were a paying subscriber - but what happens if you create a video that the client doesn't want to publish online? maybe a video an agent wants for their clients to see. how is clearance managed in that case?

@@MusicFed For ND it depends on what you are filming with lens-wise. For f1.2 at 24fps it wouldn't be enough but if you're able to shoot at 60 or 120fps it would be fine. For anything 2.8-5.6 it's usually fine though.

Superb video man thanks for taking the time to put that together. I'm new to the real estate world, so this was a great primer... if I may offer a little token of knowledge in return; if that DJI controller of yours has the "C" buttons on the back, the software let's you map a button to deactivate the various vision sensors. I've had feature shoots with an Inspire 2 in the past that required fast (40+ mph), LOW shots a few feet off water, which as I'm sure you know, drones still despise anything reflective. Having the downward and forward sensors on a couple button presses was invaluable. Hope that helps! Cheers!

Thanks! Usually just spot focus and I choose an area that will have something mid-distance in the composition in it (ex: lower thirds on the grid usually work to focus on furniture half way across the room) Or just centered if I want something like a fireplace or kitchen to be in focus that I'm directly across from.

If you guys want a much simpler setup I’ve been shooting real estate videos for over 3 years and I do about 3-4 properties a day using a canon R6 Mark 2 auto white balance (white priority), clog2, 60fps, aperture 2.8, 1/125 ISO 800. No ND needed just turn up shutter speed outside, no need to change white balance in every room, bump up iso to whatever you need when the room is too dark and use neat video or topaz ai to get rid of noise. I use the rf 15-35 but you can also use the cheap 16mm pancake lens and if you need tight shots just turn on cropped video. I finish most of my properties within 45 min.

I’m wondering why even use the regular camera for outside? You can get all the shots you got with your drone and knock it out way quicker. That’s what I do anyway. You can easily get drone shots at 4-6ft off the ground to simulate a normal camera shot and even use it on the porch (carefully of course). If there’s some reason to use the normal camera that I’m missing, please let me know! Thanks for your videos!!!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Great question! For me it’s because I normally use longer focal lengths (50+) for detail shots / vignettes to make my videos look more artistic. But it just depends on what you want to do & what works for you. If you just want wide shots , drones can cover most things outside and do some really cool movements that would otherwise be impossible to pull off. Check out my most recent video if you want to see some of the types of shots I’m talking about :)

Great video, man. It's awesome seeing other peoples' workflows. No matter how long you've been doing this, there are always little nuggets to take away by watching someone else do it. Quick gear question...I assume that is the EF 16-35 2.8 on that C70. Is that the speed booster or the regular dumb adapter? I'm just trying to get a sense of how wide you're shooting (the perspective looks great BTW). Thanks!

I've been shooting RE for 7 years now but I am looking to add either an R5C, C70 or FX3 to my lineup. I currently shoot on an R5 but I cannot stand the shadow noise at higher ISOs. Thanks for any input you may have!
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
@KeyImaging you’ll definitely get some noise with the c70 at those ISO’s but it’s not too bad like it is on mirrorless when you go too far. Looks more like film grain than just bad digital noise that’s unusable. But based on those I’d think r5c is your best bet investment-wise. Full frame has advantages for real estate & low light. IMO 8k downsampled is probably better for real estate than the more filmic c70 look, too. Also lots more room for cropping and repurposing videos if you do film in 8k which would be handy. But if you’re doing a lot of low light and buying a whole other system Is no big deal the fx3 is great too. Just crazy for low light with the 800 & 12,800 dual native iso. But for me colors are a bit harder to work with & get looking how I want on Sony so it’s not my favorite. I got the c70 not primarily for real estate and it’s been awesome. I use it for my KZbin videos, for corporate work, lifestyle, documentary, brand videos, etc. and it’s been great for everything. Have been super happy with how everything has turned out and I have mostly just shot in mp4. Just probably wouldn’t be my top choice if I was just focused on real estate photos+videos. Let me know if that helps or if there are any other specifics you’re curious about :)

I’m trying to decide between the rf 14-35 f4 and the rf 15-35 f2.8. The 14 is smaller, lighter and cheaper but I’m just wondering if there might be a need for the f2.8 in video? I note that you prefer 2.8 but can I get away with the 4 even in low lighting conditions. It gets quite cloudy here in the UK. Also, how wide do you tend to go on your interiors?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo10 ай бұрын
I think it's just personal preference. If you don't care about having 2.8 for lower light situations or for filming / photographing people, you might as well save some money on the f4 lens. I did the same for a 70-200 recently (it was half the price and half the weight too) - And it's been great! I got the 2.8 because I don't have a camera that's amazing in low light so the 2.8 helps and I like the look for RE and other types of projects. For interiors most of the main wide shots are 16 and some are 24. I prefer the look of 24 but if it's for real estate most clients like 16 since you can see how things connect / it makes things seem a little bit bigger.

Great video, thank you. I am choosing between Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM and RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM lenses. May I ask your opinion? I see you use EF, is this due to it being f2.8 or any other reasons? Thank you
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Short answer: yes both should be good! 2.8 is handy though and I like having the creative flexibility. I got my EF lenses before there were RF lens options otherwise I’d have probably picked RF . If you’re shooting full frame and have no need for EF, RF should be a little faster / sharper / smaller total setup without adapters and everything. But personally I kinda like having the option to have the different adapters and filters behind lenses etc.

It's really just a personal choice. If it's bright enough to get a clean shot at a higher aperture and you want more things in focus I would go for it. I have been doing that more lately and like having things sharper. For dark rooms though, 2.8 is usually needed! Hope things are going well :)

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thank You so much!, Right now I’m saving to buy your course. Here in Mexico, it’s really tough in this field because there is NO INSTRUCTOR, everyone just takes their phone and records (at least most of them). I just bought my first camera and basically went broke. As soon as I can save up, I’ll buy the course and I hope it helps me improve! A big fan of yours thanks you! 😁👍

Thanks! Auto / Spot focus. I usually select whatever is most important (front of house, fire place, kitchen appliances, bed, or middle of room etc) to try to get those right.

I have a VND filter nisi 77mm thread if i add a stepup ring for RF15-35 2.8 will i get to see vignetting . Should i avoid 15-35 and go for 14-35?

Hey! You’ll just need to get the bigger VND that works with whichever lens you’re going with. The 15-35 is an amazing lens

Can you use both an ND filter and circular polarizer filter on your lens at the same time?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
On this video I did but one is in the camera (nd) and one on the lens (polarizer). Kinda complicated having two screw on filters that twist at the same time stacked, but it is possible. I saw some new ones recently come out with both built together , pretty neat! Another note - If you use a faster frame rate (like 60) for exteriors you won’t need vnd too often anyways unless you’re wanting to film lower than f2 and at that point you probably won’t really need a CPL for that kind of shot anyways.
@TancooMedia Жыл бұрын
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thanks for the reply! I see what you’re saying. I’m just getting into RE photography and still need to buy an ND filter & CPL. So you don’t really ever find yourself in scenarios where you need to use both at the same time?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
@travis830 Just creative preference. Both are great tools though! If you’re starting with photos I’d go with the CPL for starters :)

do you use image stabilizer in post?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 ай бұрын
Definitely! I try to get it as smooth as possible in camera but usually end up adding stabilizer to make it a little better in post. My camera doesn't have IBIS or Lens Stabilization so it's usually a little shaky. Less need for it if you have either of those!

Hello! I've been following you for a while and I can finally buy a camera for these videos, but I'm still undecided, WHICH CAMERA SHOULD I BUY, a7s iii? fx3? R6 mark ii? I saw some videos with the r6 mark ii, but due to the price and my little experience I don't know if the change in quality is very drastic comparing it to the a7s iii and fx3, please HELP :(
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideoАй бұрын
For video the Sonys are better for sure! A7siii or FX3 same image, just set up a little different. If you’re not getting super into production where you need xlr mics I’d go with the a7siii for the more movable swivel screen and the viewfinder if you do photos ever is great. Have you started yet or are you upgrading?? Big investment 😅

Great video Taylor. Quick question, did you have to re balance the gimbal after taking off the cpl filter?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Probably should have a little bit but didn't. It's pretty lightweight and the setup was well under the weight limit for the gimbal so it held it up.

Taylor, I noticed at the begining of the video you doing the walking up shot of the house. It didn't look like you were trying to "ninja walk" at all so my question is how are you getting rid of the up and down motion of your shot? That is one thing I'm struggling with, Idk if maybe I need to crop the video more and add more stabilization or what.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Hey! I usually add stabilizer in post to help. Also 40-80% speed playback looks smoother too since I was doing the exteriors at 60fps. I think I compensate for steps with my arms (keeping the height pretty consistent) so maybe it just ends up looking different for everyone.

Is there a reason why you edit your video to be slow motion in post-processing rather than shooting in slow-mo from the start? Which is better?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
It depends on your camera and whether or not shooting in Slow Motion (usually S&Q mode) also records audio. Most don't. So I guess just out of habit I shoot in high frame rates and slow it down in post because I do a lot of projects that might need audio or it might be handy (branded videos, doc style videos, bts, etc). But you're right - for most cases for real estate there's really no need so that might speed up your editing process so go for it if it works for you!
@JKenpachu Жыл бұрын
How are stabilizing after post?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Жыл бұрын
Hey! Slowing things down helps so since I shoot interiors at 30fps I change those to 80% speed on a 24fps timeline, and up to 40% speed for 60fps exteriors. But on top of that adding stabilization in Final Cut (a light amount) makes it even smoother. Or using warp stabilizer if you're in premiere pro.
