Thank you for this one Steve.! I will save it to send to my next tournament partner. Fishing as a co-angler I rarely have luck in getting my partners to slow down and work a particular area after a catch. I often think that after catching that first one, especially when the going is slow, it might be smart to spot lock, or put down the poles, and devote some time to that area. Unfortunately, most boaters feel the need to constantly move, and hardly ever spend more than a couple of minutes in a spot, even after a good catch.. I don't understand the compulsion by alot of these guys to keep looking somewhere else, and ignore signs. Hopefully someday I'll have my own boat, and the decision will be mine, and there will be some great days on the water ahead, and hopefully tournament wins as well.. I always appreciate the lessons.. your videos are the best out there for those of us who love to keep learning. Keep them coming!

Thank you! Yes, that was a huge learning moment for me when Mark Davis taught me this. It changed my approach each time I head out. I'm sure that you are going to be the boater soon and make those decisions. It sure is a lot of fun and good luck out there.

Steve you have inspired me to not quite or give up on structure fishing when I dont get results quickly. I will doggedly stay with it until i find them. I fish a lowland resevoir (Jordan Lake NC) with several creek chanels that spiral off of the main river chanel (that was flooded for the resevoir). Does the depth of the structure make a difference? are creek chanel ledges as prodcutive as the main river chanel (which is also deeper)? focusing on the proper chanel is what I am looking to do.

It is so hard to keep looking for the school and not give up. If It wasn’t for the fact that I was fishing with a Classic champ when he was teaching me this, I would have given up so much earlier. I almost always start with the ledges in the creek arms. Depending on the time of year, I will either start at the back and work my way out, or if it summer, I will do the opposite. To try and speed the process up, I will look for bait first. That will usually give me an idea for a starting depth, but there have been schools of bass I have found with no bait anywhere near them. But at least it will help me narrow down an area. It is a lot of work for sure, but so very rewarding when it pays off. Good luck!

So you guys fished the same ledge for several hours..that hump on the graph? Or followed the a ledge working the edge of it ? I'm having trouble understanding
@SteveRogersOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
We kept working the edge and following it.

Steve. What's the difference between the Strike King series 3 & 5 and the X-D cranks?
@SteveRogersOutdoors Жыл бұрын
When they first came out with a crankbait line in the early 2000s it was the regular Series line up. The XD cranks have a modified bill design, curved a little different, that helps with dive angle and ease of getting to depth. I hope that helps some. Great question.
