The best thing I ever did for my fishing was getting into the aquarium hobby. Learning and watching how fish interact and school and think, it truly was invaluable for my fishing. I’d highly suggest it for anyone involved with fishing, it doesn’t have to be complex, just a small aquarium will completely change your perspective on how fish think and interact with the world.

It all clicked for me in the last few months. Lures,colors,bass movement,rod reel combos, ill tell ya i have watched hours and hours of guys fishing instruction videos. But honestly i love just going out with a new lure and practice using it. See how it works best and with what set-up. You know my job is about puzzles and well my fishing fun is puzzles too. Thank you for all you do! Your instructions are top notch and i follw your thought and approach perfectly! God bless ya Sir!

I always wonder what bass do in the winters here in Minnesota once the lakes freeze. It’s very rare for me to catch or see them in the winter.

I’m a new subscriber and have been very impressed with your videos. I am 73 and have been fishing bass for 30 years now in California primarily our highland reservoirs, the Delta and Clearlake. I especially liked this video because didn’t talk about lures and presentations. You and I know that there are many ways to catch bass in all seasons of movement. But the bigger picture that you pointed out in this video is really the heart of finding fish. And we both know the tough part of fishing is finding fish. Thank you for your knowledge, clarity, honesty and keep em coming. Ken Lowy. Brentwood California (northern CA.)

Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to write! I value your insights and really hope to help anglers with that tough part of finding fish. As you said, that is the real key and then there are lots of ways to catch them. California is one state I have not had the chance to fish yet. I need to take a month and make a West coast swing. Hopefully sooner than later.

It all changed for me when I quit WORRYING about catching a limit and just started going fishing. When I back my boat off the trailer, the last thing on my mind is a limit of bass, even in a tournament scenario.

So interesting. I've been using a small amount of this reasoning just by accident, without really understanding why. I guess it's kind of intuitive. But you take it all the way to a much more detailed reasoning and conclusion. And it's the "why" where learning really happens. So many people, regardless of what they're teaching, seem always focus on the "what" and leave the "why" unanswered. Just one of the many reason I enjoy your videos so much. Thank you, I'll be pressing this into duty this very weekend!

Not just with lure recommendations, but more importantly with examining, and thinking things through.. The bass are spawning at my lake and are right up at the shore but they won't bite anything! I've tried wakey rigs, texas rigs, minnow lures, top water frogs, etc. And tips?
@SteveRogersOutdoors
@SteveRogersOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
If they are locked on tight, I have luck by putting a lure right in that bed. If you hit the right spot, they will get irritated by it and go to move the lure, not eat it. Experiment with colors, etc. On my lake, the raiding bluegills drive them buts, so I often go with something in that color spectrum, but using a bright color is nice so you can see it. The bass are definitely in a defensive mode more than feeding mode so as anglers we need to try to use that to our advantage.

Leave the ones on their beds alone to spawn, and your fishery will be that much better in a few years.
